The Machete Pinch grip! Or How to use a machete- Video!

thanks for the kind comments guys. I hate wrist straps myself. I never see them with tons of other machete users too. Get in the way unless you are just starting out. Just my opinion and observations though.

Excellent video Joe!!!

However, I am questioning the validity of some of the info. A machete in the leg will impede its performance???? :p :D:D:D:D

Just messing with you. I seriously hope u do more.

if your having trouble with a wrist strap getting in the way then you havnt used a machete enough to get use to it, if your holding a machete properly it will fly out of your hand without one, weather fatigued or not. could you please explain how the wrist strap could possibly get in the way, in the way of what, your wrist, your risking injury without it.

Joe is the resident machete god. Trust me, he knows how to use one :D

If you look at folks in South America who use a machete day-in day-out, none of them use wrist straps. ;)

very easy.

1. If I am using a machete, I don't use one. My preference, it gets in my way.

+2 on what fourty two blades said. In Central and South America you never see one, even with the kids holding them. On a trip down there with in-experienced machete users, the machete flying out of the hand was not on our minds.

" if your holding a machete properly it will fly out of your hand without one"
Not to nitpick , but if the machete flys out of your hand, you aren't holding it properly. Axe users, golfers, tennis ball players, drummers, rock climbers, all work with fatigue yet still hold onto the item them have.

Even this guy didn't let lose his machete. But he needed to use the pinch grip.

Of course it will, because the performer will be impeded with a guyser of blood for a thigh!

correction made

But of course, good sir, surely I jest. :D

I think I can honestly say that in spite of the fact that I've been slinging a machete for about half my life now I've never had it leave my hand unless I wanted it to. If you get even remotely close to the point of fatigue where a flying blade is a possibility you should stop right away!!!

That doesn't work when you have to get out or be somewhere or make a shelter at the end of the day. Just hold onto it!

That was funny I watched it again drunk and about fell out of my chair.

Very true, of course. Still, I think an occasional pause for rest as necessary or as allowable is a good thing if you lack the endurance. I guess the heart of the matter is to get out there and practice a lot to build up those machete muscles, eh? :D But yeah, if you have a job you HAVE to get done, just tighten your grip, keep going, and pay especial mind to what you're doing! :)
