The makes my rotation euphemism, for EDC

Warning issued.
A pocket knife has nothing to with the 2nd amendment.
True, but I can't think of anyone that loves our 2A that doesn't like knives.
Both men and women in my family usually had a knife, since pencils needed sharpening and packages were wrapped in paper with twine. My dad had a keychain for his keys and it had a little Buck attached too, my mother had a Brownie Knife in her coin purse. However I wasn't raised to believe that if a person didn't carry a knife they were an "idiot." My parents were from NYC.

I didn't say, "person", you did...

I would go as far as to say that I believe every man, woman, and child over the age of 12 should carry a cutting tool (assuming the necessary foundation of responsibility, and respect for cutting tools having been established, of course).

I agree but I wouldn't call a girl dumb for not having a knife even if I thought that they were. My dad gave me my first pocketknife when I started the first grade.

the day's planned activities are not driving
I differ only on this point somewhat .

I have two knives the I routinely carry , but if I need something else for a specific task , then that will take precedence .

Same for flashlights , guns , and other stuff .

I can only carry so much at a time and still get up the hills . :p

Noun: That knife is my favorite EDC

Verb: I EDC a fixed blade knife.

Adjective: My EDC knife is a folder.

Adverb: Still pondering...I need to EDC rotate my knife?

Thread is now open. Warnings have been issued.

Stay on topic.

I have a few beater knives, some others are in the kitchen, a set of gardening/yard work knives, a collection of bushcraft knives, expendable knives, woodworking knives, utility knives, and smaller, gent's knives. But no knife is tied to a day, I don't see the advantage of that. My keychain knife (MiniChamp) is my true EDC, everything else is purpose driven.

zippo123 zippo123 , from your rotation, I really have to say that Wednesday looks like my favorite.

By the way, would you be kind enough to condescend to my acute onset OCD, and tack on a "c" to the end of the thread title? ;)

What's wrong Robert, you don't like the Civivi?

I don't consider an "EDC" knife as a knife that is carried everyday of it's life. But have served me well over time.
Over the years I've gathered a bunch of knives that have served there time as a frequently carried knives.

They now belong to the group of "user knives" instead of the "safe queens" that never see use besides being pretty.
So, EDC to me stands for a group of favorite user knives, although I might not carry one for 6 months, it's still in the "EDC" group.

The "E" in "EDC" is not taken so literally by me as the term suggest. A grain of salt is used in that matter.
I could no make a daily random choice to which knife it must be on a particular day. It's often the same knife for a semi-longer period.

My knife carry choice is simple. It's going to be based around the occasion and the gun I carry. If I pocket carry a .380, I'll carry a slimmer knife since my phone is going into the same pocket as my knife. Otherwise, it's going to a bigger knife.

I try to stay true to the motto two is one, but I usually place the second knife down as I do not want to carry the second around that may be a bit bulky and I can only reach one at a time. A medium folder and a small fixed blade. Sometimes it is two folders, one bigger than the other. Today it is a Sodbuster Jr. and a small Mott fixed blade with a blade of about 1 inch or little bigger.

The best way to resolved the "carry rotation" and be true to the essence of EDC is to carry all of them that you really like all of the time!

The number of knives on my person either when at home or out and about would make most knife guys say, "Whuuuuuuuut?" I admit it's excessive, but it's EDC and it eliminates any need for a rotation. 😁

To me EDC has changed meaning over time. I have and do carry a knife every day. At one time I tried to do daily rotations but that is exhausting. Then it was weekly carries.

Recently I have sold off most of my knives so I can just carry my favorites as often as possible. Maybe I'll get down to one or two eventually.

You've earned a new

Nickname: "Edward Scissorhands".

I EDC 6 knives that take care of most all of my needs and they are a joy to use. However, I have an extra pocket in which I can carry, evaluate, show, discuss, compare, some of the new designs, materials, ergonomics, esthetics, quality, etc. of the latest offerings.
