The Marble's USA Thread

This is an old thread, and I've enjoyed reading all of it! I was hoping I could find help identifying this knife, I'm not sure its authentic because the logo doesn't seem quite right, although its right on the sheath. Quick background,
This was my late grandfather's knife, and I assume it was purchased before the 90s. I recently inherited it from my late Uncle (who just passed from Covid19).
I'm always curious about things like this I inherit, not to sell, but to be able to imagine my grandpa buying it and what he would have used it for. I'll most likely be using it to harvest morels haha

I hope this link works for pics, if not please let me know! I gave up on photobucket and Imgur, and just joined Reddit specifically to get pics here!

I'm not knowledgeable on Marble's knives but like you, I'm not sure your knife is authentic. Or maybe I've just never seen that font used on the blade tang stamp.
Welcome to Blade Forums, Mindy !!! ... and hopefully this thread bump will bring someone with Marble's expertise on in :)

That's what I was thinking too. I've been searching and searching, but could not find a matching tang stamp, even some of the earliest knives have the traditional Marbles stamp, or a patent #. The sheath seems to have the consistent logo, but nothing on the sheath button. My grandpa was in the Korean War, I wonder if maybe this knife was from the Army and that's why the stamp is different? But I'd think I'd be able to find a similar stamp. I'm very curious!
Thanks for the bump :)

The double cross guard on that blade profile ... and that blade profile without the blade groove are a couple of others things that are throwing me.
The knife is very attractive and appears to be a vintage knife. Regardless, it's priceless in consideration of the family history. :)

I have a large stockman and a Gamegetter skinner from around 2001, both excellent knives. The Italian jigged bone on the stockman is very nice.

The Gamegetter is 8¼" OAL, and inspired the larger custom shown above it in this photo.

Jeff, that stockman is a dandy!!

Pearl Sunfish, probably a Case Brothers contract knife.

These are the seller's original photos of the knife. I'll need to get the knife out of the safe deposit box for new photos.

The tang is stamped M.S.A. CO. / GLADESTONE (documented misspelling)

Can't verify if the pearl is original (minor edge flaking) but I'm convinced the blades are.

I wonder if some of those were possibly made by Bluegrass Cutlery?

Anyone have any info on Marbles knives without the Gladstone stamp? I picked up a used Marbles, I think it’s a game getter, but it has a spear point, leaf shape blade. Wood/cocobolo handle, with no pommel. It’s damn thick, and it has L.L. Bean etched across the top of the blade. The spacers date it to ‘02, I believe (black/brass/red/white/red/brass/black). But there is nothing under the Marbles stamp on the tang. Trying to figure if it was USA made, and curious about the steel as well. (I’m not able to upload a picture since this site hasn’t moved past 2005 technology.) Thanks in advance. I’ve been unsuccessful in finding any Marbles contact info to ask them.

First, need pictures. Use a host site such as Imgur, copy and paste the BBCode url here using IMG tags.
Second, if its 2002 its from the Mike Stewart era of Marbles ownership.

Top Gunner, look at my post #207 above, your knife has the same handle and spacers as my Gamegetter. I have the steel in my notes as Carbon V.
