Hi Joe,I came across a 1936 ad that shows a lot of the knife styles available then. I went through all the previous pages and didn't see this particular one. I always wodered why the high tapered foreward spine section was there on the "Woodcraft" model. This explains it's purpose.![]()

Sorry, I just fixed it.Hi Joe,
Your link doesn't seem to work
Thanks! That is really interesting. Nice one.Sorry, I just fixed it.![]()
A suggestion was offered that this is a Woodcraft blade but a “theater made” handle by a GI. I don’t know enough to date the blade to WWII; the handle is aluminum so the craftsmanship is incredibly high from a scarce resource, plus the inlay seems a luxurious bit of extra work for the field.
A mystery!
New grailSH, I apologize as I missed your post until just now---Thank you for your nice compliment. I was very FORTUNATE to actually acquire the EO's from both Mark and Jon who posted earlier in this thread:thumbup:
I came here to post my latest Marbles USA Canoe Whittler:thumbup:
This is a 2002 Italian Jig Bone, I think I've seen it referred to as a Herringbone pattern in regards to the jigging?
This is NOT 1095, would it then be either 420 or 440 Stainless or D2? The tang stamp on the back of the blades reads AIRDI-150, does anyone know what that stands for?
