The Marble's USA Thread

I came across a 1936 ad that shows a lot of the knife styles available then. I went through all the previous pages and didn't see this particular one. I always wondered why the high tapered foreward spine section was there on the "Woodcraft" model. This explains it's purpose. :)

My only Marble's, It is a Campcraft from 2000 (Mike Stewart era) and a special SFO for the Ohio Gun Collector's Association. Ser No is 0727 however from what I have been able to find out from the OGCA there were only about 100 ordered and made. Since a member could request a Ser No in their order speculation is that 727 was requested by someone and means something to them. A birthdate? was he a pilot (Boeing 727) we'll probably never know.
One thing I notice about Marble's illustrations catalogs etc is that they usually show the stag as one piece but actual knives are usually 2 piece pinned stag. I prefer the more oval contour of the pinned stag.

Hey guys, just the thread I was looking for. I acquired a 7” Ideal off the bay and it doesn’t have the Gladstone stamp so post “Mike Stewart Era” and was wondering if anybody knew the steel and could allude to where exactly it was manufactured. It does have the Marbles USA Stamp. Thanks for the scholarly info guys!

2002 if the date-by-spacer-color thing is to be believed.....steel is most likely 52100 or a 1095 variant....

A suggestion was offered that this is a Woodcraft blade but a “theater made” handle by a GI. I don’t know enough to date the blade to WWII; the handle is aluminum so the craftsmanship is incredibly high from a scarce resource, plus the inlay seems a luxurious bit of extra work for the field.

A mystery!

A mystery!

It could have also been made any time after the war by a tinkerer in their shop. I wouldn't think there's any way to tell unless someone recognizes and can trace the handiwork back to a specific person. Regardless, whoever put it together clearly knew what they were doing. It's a really cool find!

Was my father-in-law’s, found in a cabinet among a lot of ammo and reload gear. No idea how long he had it but it’s a very good blade and nice to handle.

Thanks for the knowledge!

Good day everyone. I inherited this knife from my father when
he passed. I remember as a child this was always in the night stand
next to his side of the bed in a sheath, but unfortunately the sheath
is missing.

I'm trying to Date this and any help appreciated.

Length Top Maker's Mark Opposite of mark

I would surmise the end screws off because there is
no peen marking .

Thanks in advance

SH, I apologize as I missed your post until just now---Thank you for your nice compliment. I was very FORTUNATE to actually acquire the EO's from both Mark and Jon who posted earlier in this thread:thumbup:

I came here to post my latest Marbles USA Canoe Whittler:thumbup:

This is a 2002 Italian Jig Bone, I think I've seen it referred to as a Herringbone pattern in regards to the jigging?

This is NOT 1095, would it then be either 420 or 440 Stainless or D2? The tang stamp on the back of the blades reads AIRDI-150, does anyone know what that stands for?

Google is my friend as I did a search of AIRDI-150 and found out it is D2:thumbup:
