Somebody has some splaining to do :( A very simple understanding of bank procedures would have anyone with a checking account knowing that banks hold funds from other bank's checks for a while before paying out. It in no way means the check isn't good! Now if he didn't understand this and had told you he was holding the knife till it cleared, then there would be no issue to me but to accept your payment by cashing the check he owes you the knife. You sent payment in a form that I can only assume he agreed to and then sold the knife to someone else. Not good!

clb, send him a PM. I've known Joe for a while, and have bought from him before. He is a good guy...sometimes things happen. Give him a shout and I know he will make it right.

I traded with Joe and he sent me a Spyderco to try out with his trade(unasked). I had no problems with him and consider him a nice guy and friend, I'm certain he will make whatever mix up you are having right.

Hey Cliff,

It was great doing business with you. If you ever need anything in the future, please let me know. Thanks, Joe Lewanowicz/the mastiff

From this, I had gathered that you had already sent the knife to someone else:

Cliff. If you recall the Bank wanted a full 11 day ( business day) hold on the check. They told me if you can furnish proof ahead of time the money went out of your account they would release it. I don't really feel right about sitting on your money/or knife this long. If you can send some kind of proof the money was already deducted I'll take it to them and get the money released, and get your knife to you. A guy sent a Money order when you sent the check, and he already has the knife. I can't stand sitting on your knife here waiting for my bank to release the money. Sorry Cliff, Joe

But I can see where it was a misunderstanding. I will take the knife for sure. Sorry for any confusion.

No problem Cliff. Sorry about the wording in my e-mail I was in a hurry. I'll have it out 1st thing AM, UPS insured unless you prefer another method. If you do, let me know. Joe

Cliff, the knife is in UPS's hands as we speak, going out today. I will PM you the tracking number. Enjoy the knife, and also enjoy the wonder that is a benchmade M2 steel 710. I wish they still made knives in this steel.

Regards, Joe

Cliff, I sure wish I could get you to answer my e-mals about your recieving the knife. I'd like a confirmation to that, as well as a report on wether it's up to your standards or not. I take this seriously and would like to leave a satisfied customer with no negative feelings behind.

Enjoy your M2 Model 710 serial numbered first run, LNIB condition knife. Thanks, Joe

Reading this thread I wonder why.
1. Why Cliff does not spend 90 cents on a Postal money order instead of a personal check.

2. Why he does not answer emails.

3. now that he has his knife he does not respond to Mastiff who in my opinion went far above and beyond what I would have done to sell a knife ( accepting a personal check etc.)

as it stands right now I would do business with Mastiff any day of the week including weekends and holidays..but I would never do business with Cliff.

Thanks Ren. I've learned from this one. I'll not take checks in the future as there is too much problems and potential for misunderstandings and hard feelings with such a long wait.Heck, the bank was making money off of the hold in interest, and I was getting the hard feelings and questioning of my integrity while they made money.

In this case I wanted to get the knife out as early as possible as I had surgery coming up and it had to get done before a certain date. I had the knife packed up and ready to mail the day the check arrived.

It's also frustrating when you value your own reputation and believe in keeping your word. Someone can really trash your reputation and there's not much you can do about it except explain your side and hope people believe you, and keep copies of all correspondence.

Thanks again. Live and learn. Joe

All is good, sorry again for the misunderstanding. Joe if one stand up guy - he even threw in a free knife. Thanks bud!

Cliff

Sorry all, bad with e-mail. Barely get on-line, the post office is 10 miles from here, and I don't have a car.

Cliff, thanks for responding. I was worried you didn't get that knife. It was insured but they are difficult to replace even for someone with money. They are hard to find.

Cliff, take care of it, and yourself too. If you ever have any questions by all means, e-mail me. Thanks again, Joe
