The Mighty Junglas - Can you sell me on it?

If you don't NEED it don't buy it. That's where I'm at, have the 4 and 6 and don't need the Junglas. A machete is perfect for me and I only use that around the yard clearing brush.

It batons much better than the 6. Hiking it's nice if you can't take a full machete and axe

OH MY GOD!!!!!

I AM NOW SELLING ALL OF MY ESEE KNIVES!!!!

Just kidding! That's pretty impressive.....I know I don't want any feral boars barreling in on me. Unfortunately, they are just starting to get sited up here in Nebraska so I have yet to worry about one.

That is nice to know it can barrel through thick meat and bone like that. I should pick one up just in case I get that Decapitator job that the Queen has been advertising. But seriously, that's really impressive. I'm glad the guy didn't get hurt.

I think I'll put this at the back of my list of knives to buy. The list isn't very long, but I imagine it might get pushed back or up depending on when/if I move. If I lived somewhere closer to forests (which I'm working on) I'd buy it but right now it wouldn't get enough use to give it it's due justice.

you have a good axe & folding saw for wood processing.
you have an esee 6 to make chopsticks for bacon turning.
you don't need a Junglas.

OTOH, if you think you might want one and ever find yourself about 150 miles due south of Omaha, let me know and I'll give you an opportunity to try one out.

how many of these look like they've been used? the junglas looks well-loved... probably because it is. if you want a big knife, you probably won't find one that is a better value. i have an old bowie that is almost as big as a junglas and i've never used it. partially because i'm new to this whole survival/bushcraft thing and also because i don't want to hurt that old knife my dad gave me. the warranty offered by esee is an awesome security blanket, not to be an idiot :), but to use the knife. seriously... value. ...

The Dundee style bowie from Down Under knives is mostly a wall hanger. It is just too thick and heavy for slashing brush. It does chop well. The Busse Bushwacker is a Limited edition and not used much at all. I have another BWM that is well used. It is very much like the Junglas. But really, I prefer the Junglas. I like the balance better. I like the handle better. I have a bunch of big bowie style choppers, and the Junglas is my favorite. It is very useful for me.

You'll just have to buy yours like the rest of us do, I guess. For the money, it's a heck of a chopper.

You basically answered your own question. You know you have your bases covered. I recommend Condor or Cold Steel machetes, btw.

Buy the Junglas because they're ESEE products and because you know you want one.

Slightly impractical? ...Maybe
Badass? ...Absolutely 100%

I own the junglas. I don't constantly go bushwacking, or hog hunting (unfortunately...) but at the same time, I bought it because it I wanted it bad. :D How much more useful is the next knife you buy going to be? Seems like you've got most of the range anyway. It looks huge when you first pull it out of the box, but holding it now, it's not that big to me anymore.

Buy one anyway for the inevitable zombie apocalypse!

There is nothing more fun than going out in the woods and kicking ass with a huge chopper blade. Is it the most practical knife? Probably not. Could it be used effectively in a survival situation to cover many knife needs? You betcha. Is it insanely bad ass? You betcha. Would you regret it if you got one? You most certainly would not...

I say if you have the funds for the junglas then get it! If not then it should be on your bucket list, because this knife very well could be what keeps you alive one day to complete that bucket list.

Theres nothing wrong with being prepared, I think everyone should have at least one really good big knife / machete. The junglas will feel that void that we all have inside.

I am trying to win one now. If not I will buy one! either way the junglas is coming my way!

That's a pretty good endorsement......someone who likes had has several bigger knives prefers the Junglas.

That's also a good rationale. I have a Cold Steel Kukri that I am in the middle of trying to sharpen (dull as hell ) that was my 'big knife'. I think I am starting to think that it can be useful if I want to make it useful.....as well as fulfilling my Crocodile Dundee-area of knives.

I still think I'd prefer a machete or axe for some of the tasks, but if I had to have one knife to fend off a freakin' WILD BOAR I'd want to have the Junglas on my side.

Also, the Zombie outbreak is becoming a factor in my decision.

It can't HURT to have a mini-machete/huge knife to dink around with.....

I cannot sell you on it.
From what I hear, they're the first thing to go when Jeff insults a customer.
Why? You got one you're looking to sell cheap? :D :p
