The Mighty Mighty Moose! Post your mighty moose and provide insight to this pattern!

Always liked the Moose pattern but have never owned one. Some nice examples folks.

They will loosen up with use, Woodrow! My Vintage Knives Moose had very strong pulls on both blades, but has since lightened up considerably with use. Here's a couple of photos of it in its natural environment, since getting it back from Glenn.

And my 1988 Winchester 2880 1/2 with its companions.

I've got three Moose pattern knives right now; a 1972 vintage Case 6275, a modern Case Bros. 6275, and a new GEC 54 pattern that just came today. I used to own a Winchester (Blue Grass) in smooth yellow bone that I should have kept - not sure that I even have a picture of that one. I like the old Case the best - very satisfying closing snap on that one - I like to open it up just to hear it close. The new GEC is massive - much more than the Case - I can see it becoming the favorite Moose around here. OH

My favourite MOOSE....excellent pattern.......................Fes

Nice pic of a sweet knife!

Can you try posting the pics again.... I can't see the knives. ;)

Woodrow, that is because I didn't post any! I just got the GEC today and only opened it about 30 minutes ago (it was in it's shipping box on the porch when I got home after dark) and all I have is the GEC publicity picture. I'll post that but will take another when I can get outside in daylight. Here also is the modern Case - I just uploaded my only photo of it to my hosting sight. I will see if I can find a picture of the Winchester/Blue Grass and upload one of those. I only have a poor shot of the vintage Case - need a new one of it too. OH

I just worked on this picture with some photo software; it's the vintage Case eight dot (1972) - the knife has more deep red in the jigged bone handle than I can get to photograph - maybe I can catch a cloudy but bright day soon. OH

Thank you Woodrow - that's the one that is simply perfect in the way knife lovers like the action on a knife to work. I did have a photo of the Winchester/BGC; it is the shortest Moose pattern pocketknife I have owned at 3-5/8" - I gifted it to a hunting buddy a couple of years ago. This is another of your great threads - focusing on a pattern that doesn't get much chatter. OH

IT lives!!!
My 1st born son has moved to NZ and is becoming a carpenter.Should I be worried? Please .If you know anything about these things please help.;)

Great shot of the Forum '10 Knife meako

I've got one of them as well, agree with Steve about the NS liners adding to the appeal. It has pretty heavy pulls though and quite thick blades, can't post any pix as Photobucket seems to have thrown a fit for 3 days now....:confused:

I wish I had some spare cash but at this time of year it's meagre rations otherwise I'd be after the latest edition of GEC 54 Moose. There's some outstanding stag on the Northfield ones and the slanted bolsters give a lot of presence in my view. For those of you flush with cash, check them out NOW:D:D

That Chestnut Wormgroove is also outstanding. Some of the better jigging from GEC.
