The Military (or para for some of you) is the ONE!!!

I too have struggled with this question. I have owned a PM and a Millie with serrated edge in the past and they were awesome cutters. I'm expecting a plain edge version of the Millie any day now.

Spydercos are the only knives where I will consider a serrated edge but it must be a full serration, not 50/50.

The PM has a deeper serration than the Millie, and it is a fearsome cutter. If you have a Sharpmaker it is no problem to sharpen. However, serrations can be a problem when it comes to certain jobs, like sharpening a pencil for example.

I tried to get the best of both worlds by having a serrated PM and a plain edge Millie.

If I had to choose just one, I think I would go plain edge now, though those serrations do work great on cheese :D

I have often wondered whether to use Plain Edge or Spyder Edge, I'd say for my "Salt" models I would use spyder edge, and for all of my EDC and camping knives I like Plain Edge. I like how the spyder edge cuts really deep, but there are those tasks that having a straight blade would make all the difference. If I had to choose just one, it would be the Plain Edge.

I think the handle ergonomics could be much better, but otherwise I love the millie. Bought a sebenza (my only other folding knife) but it didn't knock the millie out of my pocket.

You bet, 6-7, I was real tempted to pick up a third, but I am saving up for an S90V.

I hear ya. Still unsure because of my limited sharpening ability about getting the S90V. Got a few knives in ZDP, and they're my biggest challenges. When I master them, then maybe the S90.

Working in your neck of the woods now BTW.

I had a CF Military (sold it) and tried a Paramilitary (passaround). I found the compression lock of the Para awkward, and the Military was too big.

My "the one" actually isn't a Spyderco (Benchmade 940D2CF), but the Calypso 3 CF/ZDP is a close second.

I carry a Large Regular Seb most of the time now, on and off duty.

-But that's only because of how much I paid for it.

Also on duty, every minute of every tour, I still carry my SE Military... because if something absolutely has to be cut, RIGHT F'ing NOW! a serrated Mili is the hands-down go-to blade.

I have a Para too. Nice knife, but no question, the Military is the finest folding knife designed since God created Man and he first flaked a stone edge. Sal could quit right now today, and his legacy is secure.

I have a plain edge Millie but here lately I've been awfully happy with my new Manix! Its got a little stronger blade and cuts with about the same aggression!,,,VWB.

Received my Military about a week ago. I initially thought it was going to be too large. Boy was I wrong. It's so light and strong. Very easy to handle. It's been in my hand and pocket constantly. I will now always own one.

My milly's been the one for over ten years. ATS-34 2 screw !!

cept right now it's a S30V :o:D
