:D Just in and bolted down! This is a major improvement on the road to precision.

It is a high torque mini mill with fixed column! For a mini mill it is on the large side, perfect for my shop.

Collets and other gear...

Clamps and more! That is a granite surfacing plate on the right. I finally got some dykem too!

One more of the mill! I still need to clean it with mineral spirits and oil it down with synthetic oil.

Yes, I still use all of those files too! The tin snips are used to cut all of my sheaths after they are molded... the block of metal on the magnets is my backer for hand sanding; it is a piece of 5160 steel with rounded edges.

You have a pretty nice set up. Wheres the vise for the Vmill? Or does this particular one not come with one? Are u using C-clamp's?what the rpm's on it? Belt ran? And is it set up with an auto reverse for tap&die? Or do u have ur Dp set up to do that...... You are gonna be getting damn good tolerances..+or-.001 Sir I am geliouse...

Much appreciated!

I need to get pics of the vise, I have a heavy duty machinists vise for the mill. No C clamps... will be using the vise with paralells and the clamp set. 2500 rpm, variable speed spindle drive, it is the Cadillac of mini mills! :D

I'll be getting a tapping head soon with auto reverse to run on an inexpensive drill press, I have been looking daily for a killer deal.

Dude, those are just killer mills! I am very jealous! I am really hoping for an Anso style stamp for your kydex sheaths.

Really wish I hadn't seen that. Now I'm gonna want one!

Congrats. I'm sure you're going to make lots of cool stuff with it.

Damn! Wish I didn't live so far away. If I lived close, we'd already be slinging chips! Would love to be able to help you get started. Where's Scotty with that transporter when you need him?

Thanks! I researched a ton and am very happy with everything.

Anything Anso does is cool...

Much appreciated!

Good for you Daniel, congrats! Also, good for all of us who want to own your knives : ) 0.002" tolerances are Boss.

Thanks! Hey the folders have to be perfect, that's all there is to it!

I tried to beam you over but no luck, will try later. (just got a new transporter in too! I think it runs on 330 though)

Your help has really gone a long ways, much appreciated. Chips will be flying soon! :D

Thats cool!!
Some big FAT choppers with blood grooves??

Will be nice.

Congrats Daniel.

Blood grooves will be no problem, Ball nose end mill will make it almost child's play Daniel. Btw,....I have a few ball nose end mills..hee hee.

Forget blood grooves, I want a kwaiken with a bo-hi! That or Daniel, you should make a set of those awesome clamps in the liner lock wip by Gareth Bull, those things are sweet!

Those clamps are cool aren't they! That is a great thread...

For a bo-hi you can use a triangular carbide lathe bit in a handmade holder to start it and a sen or something to finish... but I hear it works way better on tamahagane. I'll smelt some and see! (OK that is a far off project)

I will be putting blood grooves, fullers, bo-hi's and rounded I-beam construction in my knives! something like that
