The Mill Has Landed!

Cool!!!
Fat choppers with blood groves.
Something like the one I have but fat. With blood groves and a Bowie tip. That will be the ultimate chopping tool.

:D

Ok. Maybe a Bowie tip it's too much.
But fat. Has to be fat.

Sounds good to me.... I like all sorts of tips and fat all the way!

I thought if it went up to 11 it was awesome but this mill goes to 2000!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly!

Glad to see you got that mill Daniel, it looks like a beast (for a mini mill)! One of these days its my goal to scratch together some cash and get me one of those. Then again if people like you keep putting out beautiful functional knives that I can't resist it will probably never happen... self control, yeah I don't have any.

Blood groove - I believe it's actually called a fuller. This fuller is primarily used on fighting knives and swords to lighten the blade without sacrificing structural integrity. This would make its inclusion in a chopper or weight critical knife counter intuitive, but then you could always increase the thickness to compensate (something I doubt many including myself would complain about). In my opinion a fuller looks the best on Japanese profile blades or daggers.

For those of you that didn't got to see this one.
Eli would be jealous.

It is rare when I talk up my own work but man that chopper is nice! It makes my day seeing it.

Much appreciated! Just kidding about the blood groove thing, at least terminology wise. That stuff always cracks me up. "reduces suction maximizing wound" lol...

I just tried out the mill after reading a ton more today, chips were flying! I must say the learning curve is steep. real steep! :D

I also wired up a VFD and motor this morning, it was a high tech day. Horizontal grinder! pics of that soon...

Nice set up Daniel. I guess now you will venture into some interesting designs... :D

can u use itto do stuff with ti and steel and put it on your yt i want one of those but dont no what its capable of

Cant wait to see what you do with that mil.
You need to put me on I our chopper list Sir. :)

Will do... it is kind if a cross between a drill press and an etch-a-sketch! with math, lol I never was too great with an etch-a-sketch but am trying harder with the mill. :D

It is going to be fun!

Cabra you know it! Sounds good man...

Have you seen Justin King's Kukhri? That is right up your alley. It evokes feelings of lust.

Can't wait to see what you come up with mang!

Thanks! I have all kinds of stuff planned for the mill.

I have and felt the same way! That knife is an all time favorite... the lines on his knives are as good as it gets.

I could not think of a better example of how the slightest changes make or break a design. Justin has the eye for design.

There must be another maker that shares my name, I don't recall ever making a Kukhri...if I see one with my name on it I may take liberties though:)

No wonder I could not find it when I tried to look it up again, lol you didn't make it! I am a big fan of your work and now wondering who's kukri I am thinking of!

I'm flattered, I have admired your work in the past as well. If I'm perfectly honest, a little jealous of your new mill too, but I suspect I would just shoot my eye out with one of those anyway, and I'm old enough to start taking my own advice by now...

Have fun with the mill, I will look forward to seeing what you do with it. I can't help with the Kukhri thing, unfortunately, except to say that it wasn't mine.

oh damn, sorry gents. I had a brainfart there. It's Jason Knight's Khukri. Justin King, Jason Knight, you can see how it can get confusing. I also associate Justin with indestructible-ness (nice choppers). I know of at least 4 knifemakers named Jeremy, that gets confusing too. Anyways, you've probably seen it already, but here it is:

JParanee posted this pic in his thread about The One Khukri To Rule Them All.
