I've just watched 'The Mist' and found it quite an interesting film from a survival point of view.

I don't want to spoil it by giving anything away to in case any of you watch it; and I think it's worth a watch if you're into movies.

It was interesting because of the way people responded to threats and to each other; especially interesting is the state of mind of them at the end from a survivalists' point of view.

Basically, I thought it quite possibly realistic and believable from a people aspect.

And not a zombie in sight!

Of course, my wife and I sat there saying, "They should do...," and, "No, don't do that, do this!" throughout the film.

Worth a watch I think.

Anyone else seen it?

I agree ... I thought it was a pretty good and enjoyed watching it ... that was some twist at the end.

The book (or was it just a short story?) was way better than the movie.

What I can't figure out is why there are huge monsters in the story that will tear you limb from limb if you step outside, yet they can't figure out how to get through a plate glass wall and into the grocery store.

Any bloodthirsty beasty with tentacles as thick as tree trunks is going to figure out a way to get through a thin sheet of glass.

It was a good flick. Amazing the transition that you see the people go through, and how people will follow someone, just to follow someone in that situation so they dont have to think for themselves. Good movie, very interesting at the end.

Where you in my bedroom, under the pile of washing I need to do, last night in the wee small hours Rick?

I watched it and thought it was a fairly decent film and it wasn't let down by effects or script as is usual in this type of film.

lol, wish I had been, I could nip up the road and camp out around Loch Lomand.

No, couldn't watch it last night 'cos the misses was watching Coronation Street etc :barf:

The film did make a refreshing change from the usual rubbish. I know what moonwilson means about the glass though; my wife pointed that out as well. I think they weren't particularly after the people really, only when they came into easy view.

Good movie  I was surprised; it was much better than some of the other Stephen King adaptations. You and J Williams hit it on the head:

I liked this movie for the people-under-stress story; the monster story was an entertaining backdrop :) I only wish the characters were developed a little more.

Novella maybe?

The Premise in the novella is that the wee beasties cannot smell the people.

I loved this film..I am a big horror movie guy..but this one was creepy..the monsters and the people..I couldnt tell the difference.

Damn that movie, theres nothing worse than watching a movie that ended like that, to be fair it had its good points but come on!

The ending was kinda like the bit in Planet of the Apes where Heston gives it the "Damn you dirty apes you blew all, blew it all to hell!" (or something like that) line.

Haha, yes, but I think the actual ending as written by stephen king might have annoyed more moviegoers...the lack of resolution and all that :)

Well the novella has a very ambiguous ending.
the movie...doesn't.
The movie ending is kinda nasty.
20 years from now film students are going to be picking this apart for socio-political meanings.
Heck they are probably doing that already.
lots of not-so-hidden meanings/symbolism/allegory in this pic.
Liked it anyway, lol!

MAN DID I LOVE THAT NOVELLA when I read it years ago. I was really enthralled by the movie too. Such a sleeper hit. And all the Godzilla references (2 of 'em) in the book. I'm glad you brought the movie up.

That ending though, my mouth was open in the theatre.

glorious movie, glorious!!!

Did anyone ever read "the raft" in that book too? Another great Stephen King short story.
