Hi Guys,
Everthing is looking good for Saturday. The directions look good and if you could let people know, I will park my White 2000 Chevy Tahoe in the front yard which is right on Rt 202. You can see that easily coming from either direction.

thanks Rene yes Jim just called me..

Mike, Jim Siska offered to do the H/I at his place...
where you are still at home and with your concerns you emailed me with, this
could be more than your family may want to bear.. :o

Jims place is easier to get to for the most of us and he has enough room..
I think he said
from the north 495, 290, 90 and then 5 miles on 202s,, he is on 202.. is that right Jim?

for us coming from the north, it's the same time wise as it was going to New-bedford but easier, for the guys coming in from NY it's a plus for you also.

Rene, Jim said you have a forge you may let us use for this one?? (mine is a mail box type with a pedestal it won't fit in the car..)
anvil? Joe said he has one we may be able to use also..

one of the things that will be talked about is using club funds to get what we need so we'll have this stuff and will be owned by the club.. and we'll have it to do H/I's in more than one place

Jim is set up for grinding and said he will do a grinding demo also:thumbup:
that is a treat for those of you that have not seen him grind..

what do you all say?? I'm for this being easy for everyone over all.

Dan: i have an old fisher anvil about 100 lbs or so.... no horn on it and it needs some cleaning up, but i'll be happy to give it to the club, and i have some 12X12 pressure treated about 5 or so feet long... i can saw em down to fit the anvil set up, and for vises or whatever else we need:thumbup:

Hey Dan,
Where exactly in NY does Jim live? I'm dying to get to another HI, but I gotta admit I'm not looking forward to another 8.5hr drive one way... if Jim is closer, I am definitely there!

Jim lives a little west of Springfield, MA, near I90 (Mass pike)

Would be good for me too, about half the distance.

Mat, Jim is in Westfield Mass, he said 10 min's to conn and 1 hr to NY
I just emailed the address to you so you can look it up on maybe mapquest.com I hope your e-mail is currant..

Mike that would be great.. when we lost connection last night on the phone I trid to call you back twice and then left a message.. no word back from you:confused:

Shaves off about two hours drive time one way for me... need to think about this.

I'm 5 1/2 - 6 hours, so it sure looks better for you guys out there.
it's making it more central for the majority I think..
this is why we need to spread out with H/I's and functions here in Maine , in Mass and out in NY's other side..
we'll pick up more members too with less traveling to do..gaining members and cutting down on travel..we don't have to hit all the
functions but they will be a lot easier for guys to hit one at least with out the long traveling..in time I want different chapters of Necka spreading west also... it's time we get moving... we need motivated members to make this happen..
Mat where your out farther it could be somthing you and J Neilson in PA could work out? just an idea to work on maybe? ;)

At some point I'd love too host a hammer-in, but I need to get my forge built!

Besides, I suspect that my family might make a few uncomfortable...

I say we pester J. He's got a killer setup, from what his shop tour shows, and he actually knows what he's doing, whereas I'm just a knucklehead poser!

if he drinks beer, he'll fit right in :D

what I'm proposing is public functions as well as H/I's
at designated public places, not at personal places, this we have to get a way from because of past problems of doing it that way....but it's something we'll deal with until as we grow now....

Dan
it works better for me to shaves a good 2h of the trip:D . i like the idea of the HI's moving around be nice if it came north a bit;)
