I'm still up for going.......Is it for sure going to be at Jim's now?
Mace

David COOL
do you come down by me?? on the 95'er ??

Mace
95% sure it's going to be at Jims..

sounds good guys. we have a lot to discuss at the hammer-in. errr meeting
Dan: sorry i lost you last night i was in a bad cell phone zone
i have some ideas i need to type out and run by you for discussion at the hammer-in. we can fine tune em before we put em out there. I think we all need a big thanks for the HOST of this party too bad he doesn't get on the forums

Dan, I have a forge..it's on wheels..the only thing is I only have a small 20lb. propane tank and I am sure it will freeze up on us..does anyone have a larger propane tank?

I talked to Happy Cat and I think J about a NECKA WEST get together sometime last year. We never got to any plans.

I don't know where Matt is but J is about 2 hours west and Jim Siska a little less than that north east. New Bedford is about 4 hours on average.

I have room in the yard for 30+ people but not the parking.

Dan
i'll be coming down the 91 i'm a little bit west of you i think. we cross the border at newport vermont.

david

I have a small forge I can bring(not for welding), and maybe an anvil---if we need it...
Does anyone want me to bring them some steel....I got 1084 and W-2
I'll bring some to have on hand, but just want to know if someone wants a specific amount.
Mace

I'm on the far side of NY (just south of Buffalo), so my guess is I'll be one of the furthest points out for NECKA. I have the space, however what I don't have (yet) are the makings of a real knifemaking setup... I've only just begun in this field, so I'd hate for people to expect to show up and just dive in (which was kind of my experience at IG's).
I will definitely be open to doing a hammer-in at my place in the future, but unfortunately not in the immediate future.

T Blade, Mace's W2 is 5/8" round bar stock, for sale here.

the place will be at Jims..

Mace I'm sure that would be a yes on the anvil and Forge just in case we need them if you don't mind..
bringing steel is good too you never know..

Rene yes and thanks on the forge, a tube of water will help on the freezing..
we'll have to have those of you that are bringing stuff to list what you will have there..so I can list it..and I do thank you..

Matt I want to eventually have mobile equipment so we can go to a public place, many legion posts have space available, fair grounds places like that.
this would be my gold..

Dave I see why your saving some time now...:)

mike yes we can go over them then..

Dan,

Here is pic of my "portable" press. I guess it's as portable as a 1/2 ton of steel can be.
http://groups.msn.com/BladeBlacksmithing/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=73

It only needs to have the wiring finished and then a test run. :D It'll be done some time this week.

Of course electricity would be a definate issue when traveling with it.

Larry T

larry if you want to try it out at the H/I it will be wellcomed I'm sure..
we'll just have to OK it with Jim
what are the power requirments?? and type of outlet it needs?

I have some things to add to the first post guys...

Dan,

I was thinking about in the future of building one for the club at cost of material.

The power requirements of this press is 230v, 15amps, the motor is compressor duty which makes sesative to continual running (needs to shut off in between heats). That type of motor is similar to the one that Bruce Evans burnt out on his press recently, I believe, of course I had the motor before I heard about Bruce's burn out.

That being said I cannot bring this machine for general club use. :grumpy:

Larry T

No Problem Larry we'll use the hammers :)
let me know what prices your talking about..with a service duty motor
I have some stuff here we can use including a new gas engine for mobile use with-out ele....I mainly need steel..
thanks..

Oh boy, here we go....:D

The more I think about it, maybe you should have let Spangler sharpen your knife, Mace... :D

If I remember the way it went down, though, Dave... you ALL got your asses pretty much handed to you by Dave Schott... who, aside from Spangler, is about the ONLY guy my skinny little 155lb butt managed to outweigh at the HI!
