The New BRK 'Little Brother' Aurora!

What's the ETA on these, Joe?

Looks a bit like the H&C Forum Knife, which I would have liked to have gotten in on.

I agree on A2 v 3V. D2 and I would be standing in line already.

This is the first Barkie Ive seen in 3V I believe....

The first was the Lil' Canadian - Twin Blades has a review here just a couple days ago.

This little Aurora might just be what I am looking for...the regular Aurora felt too big to me.

Here's a trick for you (and others). If you go to Google and type in .156 inches in mm it will give you the answer. You don't have to hunt for a webpage with a conversion interface, just type it in the search box. You can do the same with lots of other conversions such as 40f in c, 15 miles in km, etc.

I just tried it as you said and it works great. Thanks for the tip. teaching a man to fish.....:)

Pretty blade:thumbup:

I wish it was 1/8" thick or 3mm though:rolleyes:

I don't get the "convex scandi" grind.

I recall Sal of Spyderco saying how hard that it is to do a true scandi grind on a production knife. So maybe "scandi convex" is a way to sort of grab a segment of the scandi market without the apparently tough job of making it actually scandi??

It's a bit like the whole Nessmuk thing. Everybody makes a nessmuk but only about 60% bear any similarity with the picture in the book.

Now it's "Bushcraft" and "Scandi". ;)

Seriously. I have several Bark Rivers with full convex grinds down to pretty much zero edge that perform as well as a real scandi except that they don't slice as well because the spines are thicker. So I don't really get the advantage to a scandi convex over Bark Rivers normally super sharp full convex??

I love Bark River knives and they are made in the US which is super cool.

However I have to say as far as production companies Spyderco's Bushcraft has all the elements without being a direct copy of the Woodlore. They seem to be the only production company that actually concentrated on the elements of such a knife rather than just using the buzzwords.

Wouldnt be hard to turn it into a full scandi. I dont think the handle is too small. 4.33 seems like a nice size. Most of my blades are 4.5, which I think is PERFECT. However, everyones hands are differant...

I got a BHK Boattail Scandi on order, so I wont be getting one of these, but I think it has potential. I love the blade size on it.
