The *NEW* Mors Bush Pot : )

nice :) are these made by Don at 4 dogs? I have a couple of his stoves- top notch

To the best of my knowledge these are made by Open Country cookware. They are not a open stock item for them. Four Dogs and Ben teamed up to do what would equate to a short run to their specifications.

Hope this helps.

Yeah I bought one when Open Country sold them from Campmor without the coating for $13 bucks. I found another with a spout on it at the local flea market for $5.

They aren't andonized though.

I think the combination of the bail and the loops for pouring are near ideal for cooking over the fire.

Hey HD,

That non-anodized pot looks great too. I am not sold on the anodizing yet, and probably won't be until I get a considerable amount of use out of it. With that in mind, the one you have looks to be an incredible deal. Besides, yours now looks fire anodized :)

Brian I have a couple of the zebras and love em. However I'm very glad you shared this link on these. Bens site however does not show the smaller pot coming with the large billy. Is it included or did you purchase it seperately?

Sorry WM. I didn't mean to mislead you. I did get them separately. They were shipped nested, and I am guessing designed to nest, so that was I was showing them. I didn't mean to say they were available as a "kit."

Those are awesome. Its great Ben is carryin em. I would love a Mors pot in stainless that nests well with a Nalgene. Hows the baby bush pot nest with a bottle?

Hey J. That baby is a bit big for a nalgene. If you put one inside and push it all the way to one side, I would say there is 3/4" to 1" of gap to get to the other side.

Hey Brian, is your Zebra the 12cm? Any chance of a side by side shot of the small bush pot and the Zebra?

It'd be cool to find a pan that could nest in the bush pots the same as the Zebras have, I really like that it can be used as a double boiler/oven/steamer.

BGA,

I'm not afraid of the aluminum leaching because I don't use it every day. But from a practical standpoint the adonized ones probably get hotter quicker than the non fire resined one.

It always sort of puzzled me that Open Country Stopped making them cause I thought the design with the bail and the pouring loops was one of the best ever for open fire cooking.

Plus I've gone with a party of 4 and that as the only cooking pot and the size was ok to make coffee and soup for the whole party.

Always sort of wondered why the ZEBRA folks never did a SS one with a bail and a pouring handle like that??

I just received my bush pots today. They are well constructed with a lot of attention to detail. I am not sure if I am going to install the bail on the smaller bush pot or not. I do have a question to whoever gets one of these. Does anyone notice a small leak from the rivets? I noticed that there is a small leak from one of the butterfly handle rivets and wonder if this is common or not.

Wow, this is exactly the item that I was looking for. The mini one is for me. I would want an even smaller one with a bail, I'm gonna have to look out for one

I used both of these stoves today. They work fantastic. Warming up the pot seems to have sealed the leak entirely. I am thinking of using JB weld instead of the rivets on the 44 oz pot to secure the bail mounting brackets on the outside of the pot. Not sure if it will hold though.

these look great!
i cant seem to find them on the site
can you pm me a direct link?
I do see the 2 separate pots for sale
but not the set your talking about
thanks for sharing

duh!
man I cant believe I couldnt figure that out
you should see me with a figure four trap
thanks much

Mine arrived. I bought both sizes and they are well made. The bail system is nice. Boiled some water in each and no leaks.

I broke down and ordered a bush baby pot today....Argh, with my collection of cookware growing like it is my wife is starting to call me a pothead...

The baby pot does not have a bail, but it does come with everything you need to put one on.

I am undecided if I will put it on, or leave it as is. If I put it on, it will no longer nest inside the larger pot. So, I have some thinking to do on how I plan to use these, and decide if it goes on or not.

What about a home-made flexible wire bail, like those some people put on water bottles? You would lose the multi-position capability, but flexible wire might allow you to keep the nesting feature.

That is a good idea.

I toyed with a couple ideas. One would be to install the clips, but not the bail. I think they will still nest with just the clips. Then, just use a wire as a bail. The other option is to simply drill a couple small holes high, and close to the rim and just do the wire bail like you mentioned.

In the end, I just decided to keep them as is for now. Honestly, I am thinking of just picking up another small one and install the bail. If all I need is a small pot, I would have one with all the cool features. If I need two, then I would take the nesting set.

I would like to see if anyone does any mods to their small one.

My 64oz KK (4.5" Di) nests good in the small one with enough room to slip a TI Spork in between.
