We have been in a drought for a long while down here, the rains are a welcome sight.

Those are just plain awesome pics:thumbup:

Someone here posted awhile back asking me about water sources on the Pinhoti trail section I did today, and I had to describe how dry and waterless it was. Today I crossed 10 running streams in that 6 mile section, and almost that many on an adjoining 6.6 mile trail where I told them they could expect maybe 1.

Thanks..looks like a bunch of us got some much needed rain last weekend and Monday. We still need more.

Thanks mate. Yeah, exactly that. That was green woodwork and fence making but I've got a few more, wheel making, broom making, that sort of stuff. Just one my way out now but I'll poke a couple more up soon.

Cool man:thumbup: I thought it looked geared towards woodworking and fence making. I look forward to the others.

The drainage of the South Fork Cartridge Creek, Kings Canyon NP. Not visited by many people, no trails come anywhere near it. These pictures are in sequence crossing the drainage and going to the gap on the left side of the opposite ridge.

Good grief. I know I'm 40, but could you please just adopt me?!?

I decided to try some Aussie rappels. Did it once 20 years ago, and it was baby steps all the way, but by the fourth or fifth time I was running down the wall today...kind of running.
Went to all this extra trouble to make sure I didn't, you know..die on my first attempt-rapping a double strand with an ATC, haul loop backed up by a wrapped and hitched runner, and then when I come back up, I see the runner I'm anchored with hung on the carabiner's locking gate:rolleyes:

temperate zone seems better for camping ,I am in the tropical zone and every day raining , really hate this weather.

As long as you promise to let me live off of you when I retire.

I will be doing a nine day trip this summer to some spectacular places in Sequoia NP where there are no trails, there's still room on my permit...

I wish. That sounds great, and your pics always make me want to move out there.
Vacation to Utah with dad next week, and hopefully a backpacking trip with the girlfriend in the fall is only leaving me with 3 days vacation left. Need a few back that I blew, already:(
I'm curious how I'll do with altitude. Haven't hiked at more than ~8,000, and am used to being at almost sea level, so I might have had a hard time keeping up on your trip, anyway!

Same here. I'm already in CA too, but I don't have enough vacation time with the trips I already have lined up this year. I need to save up days for next year :)
