The NEW Post Your Campsite/gear/knife/hiking/anything Outdoorsy Pic Thread!

Owen, 7 states in a month! Wow.
Well..perhaps another month. AL/TN/SC/NC so far, but my knee's acting up, so I wimped out on GA. That's ok, I've got to pressure wash the siding on the upper half of my house(that's outdoorsy!), and have other stuff to catch up with around here, too. Laundry is sooo exciting!
Maybe some mountain bike trails tomorrow. Downhill doesn't bother my knee at all on the MTB:D

I wish! If the uphills are too much for me, I just get off and walk the bike up. My endurance on the bike needs a lot of work, since I haven't been riding much, recently. Seems like you lose it really fast when you don't use it regularly.
The knees don't bother me very much hiking uphill most of the time. Left one gave me some grief this past week, and yesterday cutting grass, though, so I'm trying not to push it. Think I'll go ahead and break out the knee supports next week rather than wait 'til every step feels like a needle through my knee to start wishing I'd brought them along. That upcoming birthday is making sure I don't forget it :p

I've experienced a little knee discomfort on occasions when really pushing the distance or dropping elevation quickly. Usually a rest helps. Do you think you have ITB or something? I sometimes worry I may develop it with overuse or sometimes being overambitious.

Mountain biking is hard work, ugh. I have a mountain bike, but I can't say I mountain bike... Plus, I know I would probably push beyond my capabilities one day and really do myself in, haha. Blasting down a trail is definitely tons of fun though :). Well, hope ya get to do something fun to get a break from house work

What? Vacuum cleaning and dusting is fun...
I don't know what I've got. Physical therapist did tell me awhile back that my knees have lots of knotty scar tissue. I've had a bunch of little lower leg stuff(stress fractures, ligament tears, plantar fasciitis, broken toes, shin splints), nothing major. Never a specific knee injury, though. C'est la vie:)

Michigan U.P. not sure if I posted these earlier in this thread but some of the places in the U.P. were incredible.

Kind of a bleak, grey day, so I apologize for the dark photos, but got out for a nice hike behind the house, in the foothills of the Tetons:

Brought the HPG Kit Bag & Tarahumara along. I love this combo - layers, snacks, first aid kit, etc. in the back, and binos, flashlight, platypus water bottle, etc. in the front where I can get to it.

I also like the "drop down" shelf on the Kit:

We hit post-holing snow at a lower elevation than we expected, and we didn't bring skis, so we turned around. Still a great stretch of the legs, and lots of fresh elk sign everywhere!

What a backyard, Smithhammer! Glad you got to get out!

I finally decided on the Kit Bag, will be picking it up first thing next month, in foliage like yours. Very much looking forward to it.

Looking forward to seeing more pics from ya

You getting the full size one? I'm sticking with the ZPacks, but that Runner's kit bag was pretty tempting.
I need to look at pics online, and see if I can figure out which waterfalls I did and didn't see in Panthertown Valley. Didn't name them in my TR, because I'm not really sure which ones a couple of them were. Might should have stuck to the trail on that one. Had lots of fun, but missed at least 3 falls I could have seen...

Yeah, full size, because one thing in particular I'd want to carry in there wouldn't fit in the 1" width of the Runners. I was very tempted by the Runners though... took a good while to finally decide on the kit. I decided that for hiking and backpacking, the Kit Bag will do well. When I need more snugness and stability for trail-running, I'm going to transfer the contents to an Ultimate Direction running vest.

Hey, you should post a preview pic or something here to your trip report threads, so guys like me who follow this thread more than browse the subforum don't miss it :D

Heck no, then someone might reply to it! :p

I like that those HPG bags have some organization. The only thing the ZPacks is missing, for me, is a couple of slot pockets at the rear, and maybe a divider, so stuff doesn't get jumbled around. As long as it's not crammed full it's fine, though.
I did order another little zipper bag to keep smaller items together. And a pair of Marmot Cruz pants...and another pair of Marmot Scree pants...and a pair of PowerDry glove liners to replace the Smartwool ones that lasted all of one use.
Got to hike this week. If skipping a week requires this much retail therapy, I can't afford not to! At least it was all on sale :)

Yeah, the organization should be nice. Weight added, but makes it easier to use things more regularly instead of having "just for emergency" use stuff in there. I'm liking the durability and the harness construction of the HPG. As smithhammer told me, the Kit Bag should work for a bit of running too, if you pack it light and keep heavy stuff to the rear, but I anticipate only hiking in it. I'm keen to try out keeping my map in that main pocket, so I can use it like Smithhammer showed, with a shelf sort of thing formed. I sometimes can't carry my maps in a pocket, and hate stopping to take off my pack to get at it, even though it's in an exterior stretch pocket.

Which powerdry glove liners did you get? I have the smartwool liners, but I got my GF one in the past and it fell apart with her decidedly undemanding use... I'd like to find something that offers a little hand warmth while retaining most of the dexterity and will last a bit of scrambling.

I ordered these:

From here:

Great prices on both pairs of pants, too.

Since I left mine sitting at a place I stopped to take pics while mountain biking awhile back, I also need to replace these(which are fantastic, btw) before next winter:

^^^That's what I originally bought the Smartwool liners to go with, having tried them on together in a REI store.

You know, I don't care one bit about brand names for the sake of the name, but I sure do end up with a lot of Marmot stuff, and it's all been great.
