The new shop

Hey Andy!

Looks awesome! I'm jealous. Question for you though - where are the jointer and planer going? And the dust collection system?

If you happen to have an extra $2k floating around, you can buy a helluva workbench.... http://www.lie-nielsen.com/catalog.php?cat=535

One of the guys here at school just made a bench similar to this, and in the end realized he could have bought this one cheaper. But, then again, he just made his, which counts for a lot.

Thanks Ken! We're building a workbench out of pine. Not the same as making it out of good maple but functional for what I'm doing. I've already got two nice vices. It won't cost me nearly 2K. The top will be a little soft, but it'll still be heavy as snot.

The planer is going near that window. The dust and workpiece will actually be directed right out the open window. The jointer will be positioned by the tablesaw, and work will be fed through in the same direction that it is fed through the saw. This will give sufficient room to work with long pieces. (Though, its not like thats too common in my shop anyway.)

Good hearing from you Ken!

My father in law is finishing up a workbench. I'm getting started on knives again!
