I was walking down a trail one day while I was out hunting and a big snake went across right in front of me. Without even thinking about it, I put 2 rounds from my shotgun into him. No conscious decision. Just did it. I don't like snakes.

Quoted so the pictures are on the next page... This knife is SO amazingly comfortable in hand, even though it's small it just locks itself in the hand.

howdy folks. Yall know how I like little projects and junk by now, but I just thought I would share something I have been messing around with. Basically here are two little "pocket strops" They are credit card sized strops that one side is loaded with green compound and the other is left clean. The one on the right in this picture is the first one I made a while back and has been living in my woods bumming bag. Basically the idea was a field expedient way to clean up an edge that didnt take up a lot of space or weigh anything. Also something that if you wanted to you could throw in your wallet or pocket... even though I dont think I would want a bunch of green compound smeared in my wallet lol! I am sure there are others out there, but this was a real simple project.

The right one is the first one I made a while back, the left one I just made last night and made it a bit "fancier" lol.




Forgot to mention it fits in a altoids tin


It works well sitting on a flat surface, your thigh, or holding in your hand like you would palm stropping. Of course they are not as good as more traditional strops, but they definitely work well.

Out of curiosity, is there Ethan Becker approved apparel? I could use a Beckerhead jacket. On a maybe related note, I have an idea for a new product that I may have to try to make and patent...

What you might look into doing is using some contact cement and attaching it to the bottom of the altoids tin. It looks good though man!

I don't believe so. There WAS a hat that Moose and Ethan did but I don't know of any jackets.

That is so funny man cause that is exactly what I was thinking for my next little project lol! I also have made some home brew firestarter stuff that has been working real well. I put it in a round swedish snus container and will probably mount some leather on there to make it a multipurpose kind of item. I just like playing around with stuff :D

That's a fine idea! If you use 3M "Feathering" spray adhesive, you could do the same thing with sandpaper of your choice and just peel it off/replace it when it gets worn out.

I finally got around to uploading those vids from last weekend. To give an idea of scale, on the first one you can see a couple people fishing off the shore, on the righthand side of the screen.

I have a Flexxx Strop, and a strop from the Stropman I use. I also have a homemade one, albeit not very good.
 
I'm waiting for one of "The Chosen" ones to post up their strop from Ethan... I know Bladite got one, and I think Biscuit and Moose did... It's AWESOME.

With strops, will any leather do? is there some that is better then others? I have some upholstery leather scraps from a really old project that I was thinking of making into a set of strops.
