I was ON FACEBOOK (shhhhh) and saw this and thought of Supes and his pup:

Todd beat me to the punch. Yes, be very careful. My cousin had one from a pup, and it decided to turn on her and her husband both. They were both bitten up pretty good, and her husband had it in a choke hold, until the police arrived. Needless to say, he killed it, and probably a good thing he did. They both had to get stitched up. He even lost a finger.

Ours was a great dog, however, it got into a fight with another dog and my wife tried to break it up. Our dog was in a frenzy and just about tore her hand off. Had to have reconstuctive surgery, she swore it was her own fault and would not let me shoot it. When we had kids, he was getting old, and was very jealous of the children. Growled at the sight of them. I took him and had him put down. It was hard, but he would of killed one of the kids had he gotten a hold of one.......wouldnt of been able to live with that.

Aside from that, (which is major) he was very smart and would of fought to the death to protect us. He wouldnt let anybody he didnt know close to my wife. She is hearing impaired and it was like he knew and over compensated.

This was why when we was looking for a family dog, we decided on the golden retiever. We wanted a dog with no violent tendencies. We got it. Sophie is scared of her own shadow. Lol.

we had a chow shepherd cross before with no problems.
my guess is this one is mixed with belgian shepherd or german spitz and he's seriously laid back.
he's been introduced to our other 2 as well as a friend, his wife, and their 2 great pyr pups and he's been fine with everything so far.
if he starts to act aggressive to anyone once he starts getting more comfortable, then the shelter wants him back.

Hell, I was working on getting hammered.... Out of beer now, so I guess that's the end of that.

Few things better in life than meat cooked over a fire, with an alcoholic beverage in hand.

Agreed. A while back a friend of mine got a steak and asked on FB how to cook it. I said "over a fire."

When I was sharing a house with some people one of the rommies had a beagle and there was a sign in the widow "Beward of dog" (I think just for legal CYA reasons). He'd bark when the door opened and then expect whoever it was to pet him. I told her they should take the sign and cross out dog and write redneck on it. (referring to myself) For a couple weeks she was also taking care of her mom's mastiff, a massive dog named bear. I used to joke that Bear was an ironic name because bears don't get anywhere near that big. But like every other mastiff I've ever seen he was pretty much the most harmless pet you could have. The beagle knocked over and destroyed way more stuff than the mastiff ever did.

I think I almost had a heart attack, I couldn't find my TMHunt wharncliffe or my small sebenza. I was positive they fell out of my pockets at the car wash when I was getting in and out of the car vacuuming it.

The sebenza was under the seat, and Todd's knife was under my pillow

Netflix time.

They don't insist. They just suck at checking most of their other methods for staying in touch.
I feel as if I've managed to live a rather semi-normal "social life" without "social media" in my life. Social media is just that: media. It has no bearing on actual real life. I've no need for consumption of ideas on such a massive, groupthink scale. Things that didn't happen to you, happening with people you don't know.....

Do what I do. Call them on the phone and make them speak to a live human being. Might blow their minds. :D
You know people that actually answer their phones?

This.

Love the new sig

We had a female chow/coyote mix along with a black lab mix male puppy that we got from the shelter in Sierra Vista, Arizona, back in about 1989. She had yellow eyes, and light orange fur with a small mane and what looked like pantaloons on her legs. One of the most beautiful dogs we have owned. We were concerned when our daughter was born 2 years later, but Brandy (the chow/coy mix) treated our daughter like her puppy. Our daughter could crawl all over Brandy, tug on her lips or eyelashes, and do pretty much anything. Brandy just loved the little hairless "puppy". Odd thing was, when we first got Brandy, we took her to the vet to be spayed, but when the vet opened her up, she didn't have any female parts to remove. The vet said he also couldn't see any scar tissue from previous surgery, so she apparently wasn't equipped for it. Every dog is different though, so your mileage may vary. We were fully prepared to give up the dog at the first sign of trouble, but happily it was the opposite.

yup - that's pretty much how our Nikki dog was, too -- and what we're hoping for this one.
oddly enough, he looks almost identical to a pic I found of a breed standard Giant German Spitz, only half again as big.

Had a friend growing up whose chow turned on him and his mom. The dog nearly ripped his arm off at the forearm. Dog got put down, frined got handicapped for life.

I don't have pets. Not because of anything like turning or an attack. I like dogs, had a beagle growing up and was crushed when she died. But my kids are extremely sensitive to pet dander. When we go to the zoo we can't go in enclosed spaces/cages with animals with fur/hair. Otherwise, we are going home early. It sucks because I thought the kids could benefit from such a relationship and responsibility. But they are teenagers now and are more interested in technology than animals. And the hypo dogs, well, they just weren't our style.

On a side note unrelated to pets. In the last two years I have developed this ugly reaction to fresh cut grass. I sneeze (twice or three times ever few minutes) for a few hours after I cut. Anyone experience that reaction?
