The New Snark

Hey guys just thought I would share some neat little pocket tools I have been playing with lately with my EDC.

The other day I was looking at some leathermans in a store and saw their "brewzer" little pocket tool. It was really neat and wanted one, but I didnt think it was $10 neat LOL. So I found something else that was only $3 bucks. Its called the Nitize Doomahickey. Basically its a mini pry bar, cap lifter, small nut driver, small measuring tool, carabiner, and box opener in one. Surprisingly it has really come in handy a couple of times. Its a little redundant because of the caplifter on my farmer/cadet but its still a neat little tool to have in your pocket/key ring that is unobtrusive.

I also have been playing around with carrying a mini set of pliers around with me. I really like my leatherman wave, but I really dont like it on my hip ALL the time unless I know I know I will be needing it. Plus I like the tools, size, and functionality of the farmer better in a daily carry type situation, but they dont have a good set of pliers on them. So I found these little craftsman pliers that are similar to what are on a smaller leatherman. So far I have used them quite a bit and they are not a pain to just drop in the pocket with my 311. I think the farmer+small pliers, still weighs less than my wave LOL.

And here is how I carry the pry tool/pliers. The cap on the pliers is a small rubber stopper/cap that keeps them closed since they are spring loaded. The Nitize just attaches to the lanyard on my maratac.

Here is all my pocket junk. I know I carry a lot and its not very "minimalistic" and all that jazz but I like knives and tools and I like using them! This has kinda built up and out over the course of 20+ years of carrying knives and stuff. Just thought I would share some neat little pocket tools with yall. The stickers on my phone are courtesy of my 3 year old LOL!

The nite ize stuff is always cool, I have one of the Ahhhhbiners clipped inside the Jeep. Got one on a cooler for ghe kayak trips as well. The Leatherman brewzer is something I picked up this past March, got 3 or 4 actually. I think you're really paying for the name and it being titanium really.

This is completely awesome..

Yah, the one I saw was not titanium... or at least I didnt think it was... Either way I thought they were pretty neat, but I was able to pick up a couple of those nitize doomahickeys for the price of one brewzer. I really do think youre paying for the name/build quality with the leatherman. I think all those little pocket tools are really neat. Also carry around that little round craftsman multi driver. It was free and I just think its all cool. Makes a nice addition to my SAK classic, which is another tool that I think everyone should have... maybe even a couple of them :D

Joe posted it, I just reposted it. You're welcome though. Make sure you get a good froe and DON'T USE A HAMMER!
.

I prefer using knives not a froe :D And i use a log to baton with, not a hammer.

I have battoned/batoned/battooned, (spelling??) quite a bit. I do it even if i dont need to.... Which i barely ever really NEED to baton, i just like doing it. That video just motivated me a little to go try it with the 3V chopper crimson made since i haven't used it that way yet.

I already went down and played a little :D

Try to convex the edge on the BG Parang.. I think that was the one that once it was convexed was a helluva blade. I've heard that about the RTAKII before. Since Tooj moved over to Ontario they have some new handle designs coming out that are a lot more comfortable. Checked them out at Blade show and yeah, not quite Becker handle comfortable but definitely more comfortable than the RTAKII.

I spent a couple of pleasant hours yesterday using some of the blades from Worldwoods package deal and a BK9. The RTAKII did well on a large shrub as did the Condor Golok. The Golok did an outstanding job also on some saplings. The BG compact Parang worked well for its size but I don't think I will be using it much. The BK9 worked the best though. The balance and the outstanding handle combined to make it just feel right in the hand. It was a bit more nimble than the Golok. To sum it up, the BG compact Parang is too small and light for most of the chores I have but is a good buy for the money. The RTAKII is hampered by its blocky handle. It feels like it is attached to a 2x4. I may contour the handles in the future. The Condor Golok was great. I have wanted to try one of them for quite a while and I'm glad I now have one. The overall champ is still the BK9. It is hard for me to find any fault with it.

I agree on the blocky handle of the RTAK2, but i could still honestly chop better with it than the BK9 personally. I ran them head to head and and did much better chopping BIG stuff with the RTAK.. But I preferred the BK9 for shrubs, clearing brush and stuff like that. The thicker/heavier blade and flat grind worked better for me on the big stuff. Everyone is different though.

Im interested in these new handles your talking about Cbear. Cant wait to see them. Thats the only issue i ever had with Ontario was the blocky wide handles.

Crimson you still away from home??

I need to get your address, but figured i should wait until you get back home.

Brazil v. Mexico...
"That's it. Zero zero. But boy, was it exciting."

Ok no worries ill hit you up after you return home, or once you get back and get situated just let me know.

Dan told me the other day you are in his neck of the woods, you lucky dog you :D I wish i was there with you both. It would be awesome to get to hang out with both of you.

You should come to Meadsville PA on the 3rd weekend of August!! We can get certified together :D

Bring back the Katana for me!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... Then ill never get to hold it LMAO..... Do you need a passport to go to Canada and come back these days?

I remember just walking across the boarder into Mexico and coming back with just my drivers license several times back when i was in the Army... Soldiers were not suppose to cross the border without official passes but we would sneak over and not take any military ID and we were always fine, they would sometimes ask if we were soldiers and we would say no we are visiting our Uncle/Cousin or whatever who was a soldier.... or something similar... We purposely kept our out of state IDs as long as possible for this reason.....A couple years after i got out I heard everyone needs passports now....

Hoo boy, looks like the first review in my kitchen knife PA is up... wish me luck!
