The new Strider PT CC

I have a older model PT that I am quite fond of. (I also have a couple of SnG's but we are talking PT here) My only issue is a little up and down play. It's minuscule, but its there. If I push the lock bar over ever so slightly it's solid. It's a good size and a tough little folder. I would like to try one of the "new" CC PT, but it will have to wait for now.
As for the other issue, it's been driven into the ground. If you don't like the guy or his knives, don't buy them or support him. I don't know him. Don't even know the whole story. But I like his knives.

Being retired military I don't care for some of the things said and done, but if we stuck to that principle 100% we would likely need to scratch a heck of a lot more products off our list. There are some terrible people running big business that have done far more damage.

You're probably the first retired military personnel I've heard say that. Every other ex-mil I've heard talk about Burger, even Spark, seems very offended by Mickey Ray Burger's lies.

I agree with Retired Guns 100%. The one poster, who denigrates the company, is brand new on this forum, and insists on monopolizing the thread. Sir, please take it to Whine and Cheese. Your opinions do NOT relate to the discussion of this folder. I've had three PT's: one CC(no clip) and two LEGO models with pocket clips. A very fine quality "smaller" knife; customer service is the finest I've ever experienced with ANY manufacturer.

Sorry if the truth offends you, but I am most certainly not alone in my opinion.

If you want my opinion on the specific knife, I think it's incredibly overpriced for what you get (like most if not all Striders) and even has the gall to forgo the pocket clip, an important tactical folder innovation. Why no pocket clip, really? Most respectable companies include removable pocket clips. If you don't like it, you can just take it off yourself.

Is the complete omission of the pocket clip somehow more "tactical" or "high speed"? I don't get it at all.

I believe it's just an option... you don't have to buy it that way if you don't want it that way...

I often make custom scales for people that have clip holes in only one location when stock ones have 2 or 4 locations for the clip. It simply looks better to not have unwanted holes.

So... if you know you're not going to use a clip... why have the holes for it?

Disabled Vet here and I own two Strider knives. He committed his crime, and served his time. I don't consider it my place to judge. I do judge the quality of the knives I buy, and the two I own are very good.

"I think it's incredibly overpriced for what you get (like most if not all Striders) and even has the gall to forgo the pocket clip.."

Whatever you do don't check out how much custom slipjoints are selling for. Not only do they not have pocket clips, they don't even lock! The PT CC was designed for pocket carry. The scales are rounded and there is no pocket clip. If you want a pocket clip buy a regular PT.

Seems there are people out there that just love to beat a dead horse. You can almost picture them behind their keyboards - getting all excited when they see something that triggers their personal crusade. "Mick Strider is a criminal, Cold Steel sucks, CRK knives are overrated, INFI is nothing special, blah, blah, blah, wah wah wah."

Kwon Kwang are you a banned person that's come back. You seem to be really opinionated for someone that's been here for less than one month. You are the definition of a troll.

Aren't 99% of folding knives designed for pocket carry, hence "pocket knife"?

W.R.T. M. Burger, the foundation of a knife brand on the basis of lies is what doesn't bode well with me and those lies are of a most heinous nature. As for the criminal past, whilst there may be many people out there with a criminal past now bettering themselves the crime M.Burger committed of violent armed crime gives a good indication of his moral set, combined with the military service lies overall he appears to be a character of low moral ethics.

Whilst the knives may be good, the above is enough for me to vote with my wallet and avoid Strider products.

I have a couple CC Sng's and they have clips! I hate the fact that the PT CC doesnt come with a pocket clip! They perhaps could have made a smaller one, a more sleaker version! But no pocket clip, no sale from me! Sorry Mick! I could tell you about a couple more popular knife makers that make Mick look like a saint! Like someone said this has been beaten to death! Take it to whine and cheese if you really care to whine about it more! They make a great knife, so they told a small lie! Look at the leaders of this nation and around the world!!

Ok, care to elaborate or PM me?

so they told a small lie! Look at the leaders of this nation and around the world!!
A small lie? whatever helps you sleep at night I guess, you can down play it all you like, the fact is it was not a small lie.

I am not whining or moaning, giving my opinion only and you not liking my opinion does not make it a whine any more than your post.

Yeah, I think that they could have just designed a new clip.

I have never handled a PT CC, but the regular one has that "just right" kind of grip. Not sure if messing with a good thing will make it better.

Did you actually read what I wrote? I said I did not care for what was said & done meaning I certainly do not approve of such. I don't feel the need to use harsh language.

I'm sorry if my opinions bother you, but I am not a troll nor have I ever been banned. I have, however, been browsing BF for a year or so and never until recently felt the need to post.

Well, it is a Strider thread so trolling is normal. I still think you're very disrespectful to other members who have been here far longer. Troll away.

I don't see how I'm being disrespectful, except maybe to Mickey Ray Burger and his company, who I do not believe are deserving of any respect. I've not called anyone any names or insulted anyone except the aforementioned, attempted to belittle anyone, or posted with a condescending or otherwise offensive tone. I've simply stated my opinion and remained on topic.

If that bothers people, that's on them. You'd think that with the advent of the Internet we'd be connected to all sorts of opinions we disagree with, and thus be used to it. Adults can accept that they disagree and deal with it, rather than get upset and accuse people of trolling.

If the title of the thread was " What do you think of Mick Strider" then you would have a point. What you're doing is trolling. You should go back to reading more and posting less.

I was hoping to actually talk about the knife, but no luck. Thanks to those that ruined this thread with your ranting.

This is why I dislike seeing posters coming in to bash whoever in these threads. Takes the whole topic off-tangent for several pages.

Anyway, I'll try to get it back on track. The first Strider knife I bought was a SnG. Very nice knife, but I already had several knives in that same size range and carried them more. After it sat unused a while I sold it. The next Strider I bought was the MV fixed blade. More geared towards self-defense than utility, but I like it. The last Strider I bought was a GB. It's a beast of a folder, wish I'd had this to carry when I was in the Army. That said, due to it's large size I only occasionally carry it. This last BLADE show I realized the knives I carry most are in the 3" blade size range so I took another look at the Strider PT. For me the ergonomics are good, but I prefer the feel of the PT-CC in-hand. It is less blocky feeling. While I'd prefer a pocket clip, the PT's pocket clip is too big in my opinion. It doesn't impair the function of the knife in any way, it's just I don't like how it looks. I want to say I recall Mick Strider saying they were looking at designing a new pocket clip for the PT, but I can't be certain of what was mentioned. Lately they have been using different steels besides S30V. As mentioned S35V, PD-1, and CPM154 - one of my favorite stainless steels. The only thing holding me back from a Strider PT-CC is money.

I've only held a Lego PT and it felt tiny. Does the CC feel a lot smaller than the Lego, in the same fashion that a Lego SnG feels much bigger than a DGG or CC SnG. It's already little, seems like the CC would make it difficult to hold, at least for me.
Their heat treat is fantastic on whatever steel they use. With a little common sense, the knives should last a long time with everyday use. Although, with their warranty many people see it as a challenge to destroy the knife.

Awesome little blade that doesn't need a pocket clip. Hence the name "concealed carry".
