The Next New Becker Knife: Rumor Roundup

re-release the Brute, and for a spin a D2 (since they are using it on the 24 anyway and I like it) saber 16.

Anticipated release: RBK
Spin: Tweener Brute ;)
All New Design: Becker camp shovel/hatchet, or, Becker Golok/cleaver with sharpened front chisel/swedge!

well, there's stuff i know, and stuff the public knows, and an intersection of stuff i can speculite on... and those intersections are small :D

RBK: yes yes yes !!!

the ORIGINAL was quite a tad thicker than the production models:

then there was this:

blackjack%20combat%20khukri%20000.jpg

as for the new model? can't say. heard too much, can't separate the truth from the friction from the potentials :D

Brute: just let that one go son, let it go... attachment is painful ;D esp as a tweener:

the patrol machine: well, someone tried: very unauthorized: shutdown:

otherwise, yeah, we're not going to see that for a while, though it would be nice :D

folder: investigated, thought about, prototyped in various forms, and shelved, perhaps long time, "too expensive". experience has already shown that MOST people won't buy expensive specials or productions

BK8 - NOPE :D though they should designate SOMETHING for that position, it's too sweet. BK1 would be good for the RBK :D

the talon whacker - just something special that won't happen :D

the Bladitemuck - well, i've been on Ethan for more than 4 years... "nope". he doesn't like them :D Johnson Adventure Blades does though and he made one in stainless :D WITH ORANGE HANDLES. it's like my birthday there. thanks dude!

other knives, other metals, other stuff. can't say :D

toooj leaving definitely will change things in my opinion. the "new guy", who ever that is will probably have something to prove, shake things up, so expect things when you expect them...

so, la la la, remember, speculation is good, back it with facts for fun :D

Bladite, regarding the portion in bold. I think it is silly for KABAR to believe there is not a market for overbuilt, moderately expensive folders. Look at ZT, Hogue, Strider, many Benchmade folders, etc all pretty expensive. If they build it, people will buy them. Guaranteed.

Perhaps they are just not equipped to build such a folder. There are many people who have expressed intent to buy a Becker folder, should the opportunity present itself. I have heard many times that BF members are not necessarily representative of the KABAR customers, but in my opinion, a Becker folder would be a great seller.

I would love to see a re-release of the the RBK or -6. Something with a little more power than my Machax.

Spin? I would love to see a BK-15 in thinner stock, ground so thin that it sings, in steel that could support such a thin edge.

New design? A bird and trout would be awesome.

Great thread, Eero!

^^^ diamond pads/sticks are your friends when it comes to recurves. WHAT IS THAT SEXY KNIFE I WANT ONE RIGHT NOW!!!

I would like the patrol machete or a TM Hunt M18 production model

I think the BK24 was a testcase for D2 in a production Becker. Some D2 Ka-Bar knives out there, so maybe another BK in D2 on the way? Either entirely new or an adaptation of an existing model. The 16 would be a nice platform for D2, I guess.

What I'd like to see? Some Kukri/Machax style blade in a small package. Tweener or Eskabar handled Kukri-style blade would be one hell of a slicer, great for detailed woodwork, trap making,... Not so much for food, of course, but that's what the 15 is for I suppose.

Micarta option for the BK14/24 that spans the entire length of the blade, a tad thicker than the current plastic handles. That would be quite awesome.

I heard Ethan is coming out with a full line of luggage with grivory handles

A scandi bushcrafter with a 4-4.5 inch blade with a slow continuous curve on the edge and the spine slowly dropping so the point is on center of the handle. Tweener handles are fine but I'd like to see the pommel be 90 degrees not slanted like it is now.

The Warrior did a mock up of something similar. I know Ethan isn't a fan of scandi grinds but that little puppy would sell.

If I were thinking sales, I would suggest that the come out with the BK-16 and BK-17 in D-2.
I also think a bushcraft knife (spear point design) would be a good seller.
I think the brute would sell to Becker lovers. I doubt if I'd buy one, but that's me.
A bird and trout design would fit in very well with the existing knives.
Machetes with about 16" and 18" long blade options. They must have sheaths that are fairly well made.

I'd like to see sheath options and perhaps better replacement handles in G-10.
