The NEXT SALE

I'm not a "regular" Carothers' guy. In fact, I just scored my first one a few weeks back.

However, I have dealt with a buttload of custom and semi-production Makers, and can say (*beyond the shadow of a doubt) that Jo is the most LOVELY and patient person I have EVER dealt with by e-mail. If she's as pleasant in person as she is over the internet, she must be a Saint.

God bless that gal. I hope she has the mildest of symptoms and is up-&-running as soon as possible.

I think someone said once she has the heart of an angel…

Hello all. New to Carothers. So sorry if this questions comes off as ignorant.
If I want to get in on one of the Friday sales. Is it simply a matter of replying to the for sale thread in a timely manner, once Nathan opens the thread at 3 EST.
If so what is the sales process , when and how it the payment done etc. Sorry if this is posted somewhere I was unable to find it.

Cheers

Welcome to this great subforum.

Yes. Get in on the thread in timely manner - that's the hardest part; if you manage, let Jo the Machinist Jo the Machinist know your email. She will then contact you, confirm your order, and send you an invoice. A few days after you pay, the knife will be shipped to you via UPS. Very easy and reliable.

You probably have a decent chance of getting in this Friday because there are 40 knives for sale. You can also ask for a proxy and maybe one of the fast guys will proxy for you and win you a spot, especially in the sales that don't have many knives available or special sales where there are many fast fingers competing.

Read 000Robert's post about asking for a proxy.

As someone new to CPKs, I figure it's only fair to let you know that, "Post in the thread in a timely manner...", generally means, "within the first few seconds".

That's the reality of how popular CPKs are. The Sales thread opens pretty much at 3pm sharp, Eastern Standard Time for the USA (you mentioned you're in a foreign country), and even with 40 knives available, it's possible they may all be claimed within the first 30-60 seconds.

Thanks to all. Wow that is very fast 30-40 seconds. We’ll see if I can make it.
Do you all think the pre order for the shiv will also go that quick?

No, it won't. The plan is to leave it up for a week. It's a very expensive knife (smaller audience than the SDFK) and I'll leave it open for up to 300 knives. It may or may not stay up a week, but it won't be over in 15 seconds either. I will recommend you make a quick place holder post to secure your spot (because we try to ship, more or less, in the order the orders are received) and then edit your post to reflect your preferences but I don't anticipate any problems this time.

I hate to clutter this thread, but in fairness to those overseas customers that may not be familiar with the US Time zones and changes, I'll point out that I believe this sale is at 3PM (5PM for the preorder) EDT (Eastern Daylight Time), not EST (Eastern Standard Time). Most in the US take it for granted, but it could be confusing to others.
