The official collection thread

What is the deciding factor in which knives you make that make it in to your personal collection?
As always damn fine knives

I go through this mental decision tree with every "sharp and pointy" purchase - :D

This is my collection, or rather, harem of beautiful daggers. They come from many exotic places such as Spain, Italy, Germany, Rumania, etc. Any sultan would be envious!

It's great, that's wall paper worthy, can I borrow that?

gerber on far left in first post, is it rare/valuable?

Hello infernooutdoors are you talkin' about the big fat black Gerber with the finger cutout in the very first post?

wXhbl3p.jpg

You want me to tell you it's rare and valuable, ok it's rare and valuable, I have a question for you though, actually 3 questions for you.

1) Did you read the rules of the forum?

2) Do you know how to do an internet search? Less than 5 minutes, less time than it took you to register on BF is all it woulda took. If you think I'm bein' mean, read the rules.

3) Did you read the title of this thread? It says, The official collection thread not the Hey let me ask Ted if my knife that I have like his is rare and worth a lot of money Again if ya think I'm bein' mean, read the rules.

Now if you read the thread and understand the definition of the term "collection" and would like to post a pic and maybe a little story about your collection by all means please do sir.

If your sole purpose is to get a price on a knife to decide to sell it or not, than may I suggest 1 of 3 things and I am helping you out here.

Buy a gold membership and I'll talk to you all day about rarity and value.

There are many other forums and FB sites that will answer your question, I'd suggest tryin' one of those.

Lastly my favorite go to, eBay. If I didn't mention it earlier in this post, it's a Gerber Magnum LST, one of the earliest if not the part of the first all plastic handled production knives, they came out in the 80s IIRC.

Now I did better than answer your question I educated you on what it was and how to go about getting an answer. That my friend is the real value of what just happened here. No need to thank me, it's one of the reasons I've been here so long. I like to help, that write long posts.

ETA Here's a pic of my smallest knives.

T, of course you can use it. :D

I have to be honest and mention that on at least 2 occassions, I have violated the budgetary "no" and bought them anyway, simply because of rarity and ate ramen for many weeks.

Nothing fancy here, just my throwing tomahawks and hatchets,,,

First, my Cold Steel Norse Hawks

Next up, some Frontier-style hawks. These were made in India for an east coast reenactment supply company, unknown steel, but they throw nicely.

And then there are my mouse hawks, 11 ounces of sweet throwing goodness.

And here are my other Norse Hawks, these fitted with "long distance" handles, the 22" originals from the factory. I can get greater range with longer handles.

Here are my Vaughan Underhill Lath hatchets. Notice the cracked handle on one. These are good for full spin throwing, not so good for half-spin. I was using these only for mountain man style throwing, which is 1/2/3 full spin only and had thrown them over 500 times with no problems. When I tried, for giggles and grins, some 1-1/2 spin throwing, within 50 throws, one handle snapped right off at the head and a few throws later this one cracked.

Hey Ted, hope all is well. I shot a pic of my CRKs the other day and thought of this nice thread, so here's a bit of a bump for it with my 6 large and one very small.

Although some may appear to be duplicates, they are slightly different in some way

I got a kick out of your April Fools thread, Ted. I hope you didn't break too many hearts over in the kinder/gentler wing of BF. ;)

Anyway, I do really like this thread and shot these pics of my Shiros the other day, so I thought I'd put 'em up over here too.
