The Old Rugged Victorinox Cross..... Pioneer content, grails and such.... Red Gold...

Is that an easy open alox I see?

Yes! One of our members Joe58 (a fellow arthritis sufferer) had one made for me when he got his EO ALOX customs made. Joe is an EO collector and has a large collection of easy openers. This was fantastic idea and a wonderful gesture on his part.

That thing is excellent! My dad has carried a tinker for as long as I can remember. And when he gets to where he can't open that thing this is what he will be getting! Do you think it's possible to easy open multiple layers?

Check with Joe, I think one of the customs he commissioned was a 2 layer.

Thanks Woodrow you may have had something to do with it. I too prefer colored alox's because they show wear.

Nice soldiers. Whats with the one on the left. That little square plate? Whats the story behind that?

That is an earlier one and that was the spot that the proof inspector's approval mark was stamped on even earlier models. The Soldier knives quality was so consistent that the practice was eventually discontinued (blank box) and when the old scales ran out, the box was removed.

It has a specific name but I can't remember it...not enough coffee yet.

Looked the name up

Since the knives were issued to soldiers in part to maintain their firearms they were under the supervision of the Waffenkontrolle, and early models contain their 'approved' stamp on the scales. [See: SOSAK article WaffenKontrol for additional background.]

It's sort of a "proof" stamp that was found on military issue knives and typically not found on civilian versions of the Soldier.

So many SI's...

Ok, now you've gone and done it. I've resisted attempting to mod one of my SAK's for so long, and now I have to make one of my Solo's into an EO...

Thanks for the weekend project! :D Wonderful collection!

Thanks Dan. Btw, the one on the right side of the SI group is a SI too but it's the less common solid rivet model. Here it is side by side with a hollow rivet 97.
