Ok guys its late here and I'm going to bed, I was super busy and didnt make it to the PO today- if you made a deal with me between Saturday evening and now your packages (5 total) are going out in the morning (if we made a deal before that it went out Saturday and you should get it in the next day or so).

Tomorrow during the day I will be posting a couple of medium stones and possible a super nice small Case stockman in MOP if I can bring myself to let it go, I don't use it at all but its also the only traditional I own so I may decide I need to hang onto it incase I need a future Xmas gift for an old guy or something lol. Check back tho cause there will atleast be 2 SiC stones and possible some other sharpening equipment if not the Case.

I am definitely looking forward to that!
And as for the self defense, it's really scary to be held at knife point, maybe that's why I feel a need to have a knife on me. If I get stabbed, and heaven forbid that never happens, I'd like to stab my attacker back at least.

Plus not to mention all of the cool batoning I would do with a good fixed blade! The first thing I'd do is make myself a little campfire and make some smores!
The first and only thing I'd recomend for knife defense is jujitsu/aikido, it can be found in judo late but even just learning judo for the sake of controlling and dismantling you're attackers arm would beneficial. But alas the good ole days of standing joint locks and such are all time in judo, its just good to learn control.

I can definitely send you a small/medium winds knife if thats you're bag.

Idk, on a side note I had a job interview today and if I get it, I'll be alit more generous withthe money I don't really have.

PS I'm 22, so like remmy mentioned, I have a lot more gaps in the knives I need than I have extras and really lack some basic gear that I've been able to score through this thread while leaving what I don't need for others.. I give what I can. I'm not playing score keeping nor will I keep that from me giving to anyone else no matter how many items they've claimed.

Hey thank you! One question, what is a winds knife?
But I mean, being 19, I can definitely try jujitsu, plus, I'd like to stay alive a little longer than 19 years! But any recommendations are greatly appreciated and taken into consideration!
I did take martial arts for 5 years in my younger years, and it was great. I imagine jujitsu to be much more difficult though.

I have something I'd like to offer a little different, Im an ASE mechanic (as well as a machine shop owner) as such I have a very very large tool set including many many duplicates of sockets and wrenches. If any of you guys out here have a set of either sockets or wrenches that you've lost one or two from I would gladly send you the tools your missing, I don't just have doubles, I have 4,5,8 extras of all the common sizes and not cheap crap either, mostly snap-on, Matco and MAC, plus of course craftsman. The only stipulation is you must use the tools for your work or for maintaining your family's home/car. Sorry but if your not handy and all your going to wrench on this year is a porch swing I ask you please leave the tools for people that need them more (cause we all loose tools). Wether your a professional wrench (or training to become one, a backyard mechanic or you just change your wife's oil every 3000 miles and do a brake job twice a year or you do home maintenance or anything inbetween you're good to go.

Lets put it this way, if you have to go look at your perfectly organized toolset to know your missing something you should probably pass, if while siting here reading bladeforum your worried cause you lost your 1/2" shallow 12pt 3/8 drive socket I'd be glad to give you one. PM or email what your looking for.

Great pickup STVpourchaio! If it falls through, I'd love that piece as well!

Idk what to say, if you need it then take it.

Do you have a SAK at all?

I have a couple SAKs already, just have never touched an Alox before so I was interested. It would have ended up gifted to my girlfriend after playing with it a little while, the nail file might come I handy for her, she's always biting them :)

So if you have greater need of it than I then by all means take it.

But something like that sapien, I really do need that sapien and hope it isn't claimed previously.

Cereal_killer, that is a fantastic offer, I'm on my way too becoming certified myself, and I can definitely appreciate the difference of what quality tools can make. Believe me, snap-on, Mac and Matco ain't cheap! I'd rank then as the Crk, Strider, and Hinderer of the hand tools.

I'm not asking for tools, I have my sets, and I don't ever loan them out! ;)

Probably a typo lol. Woods? I meant woods. "Hunting" knife. Like order you a Mora 511 from the bay, don't know how much batonning you'll want to do with that though.

Good yo know were in the same age bracket. Youre young enough to take the falls in judo.
Id recommend judo and Japanese jujitsu before bjj but any jujitsu is good jujitsu and you learn to control an attacker. Aikido is dependent on the school, my school focused on the tanto and boken A LOT, developing reflexes and not a set of patterns, so it depends on where you go.

I'll bet you'll find jujitsu to be much much easier than something like TKD and also more effective too :D please don't get into a knife fight with an attacker.

Thank you so much for your offer, but I just cannot accept having someone buying me something. If it is okay with you stv, I'd like to
find one fair and square.

And I definitely will stay out of the knife fights, unless of course it is a final resort.

Your advice is golden, thank you so much for sharing not just with me, but with everyone on here.
Best regards,
Bb6tuner.

Muay Thai is where its at :D

If your aggressive, like to hit and be hit, got energy... Go Muay Thai

If your more interested in self defense and holding hands go Aikido or similar

Lmao... sorry couldnt resist and this is just me kidding around, But i do agree Aikido is school based, The school I tried for a month wasnt great, but i also needed something a lot more fast paced. I love that the Muay Thai gym also offered Krav Maga training workshops as well. That was a great program, I miss it... cant wait until Im allowed to join a gym and train again.

Wow what a generous offer! As an up and coming tech, I can say having quality tools makes all the difference. I wish I could take you up on your offer but I too have duplicates of many sockets; and I usually only use 10,12,14,15,17,19mm lol. Unless you have multiple 32mm's (which is the one size I ALWAYS borrow from Autozone when I change axles) then I'm fairly well stocked on sockets and wrenches. :)

No I don't have a SAK, but I've been wanting to add a small one to my EDC.

Depending on where you live, there might be an MMA gym near you. They are becoming more and more common. If there isn't one, then Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Muai Thai Kickboxing would be your best bets. Either one will get you to the point where you can beat up everyone you know (if you train hard).

Yes, we have a my Thai fighter who just joined our club.

He kicks at my leg while I stand there looking at him, waiting to see when he's going to figure out the reason his "foot sweep" isn't working is because

A. There's no weight on that foot
And
B. He's just jabbing at it.

I wonder sometimes if he's just begging me to punish him osoto maki komi for aggrevating my keg but I don't because he's new and its a bad fall. After all, I was new once too..

That's cool guys, don't make a prac tac out of pay it forward.

Im saying judo to learn control, not knife defense, not fighting, but control of your opponent.

All MMA guys I've ever sparred with lack real control. They're good fighters but don't have what I mean by control over another persons movents and balance to not be thrown themselves with the simplest of counters. Yes, they can out box me. But I don't think protection from a knife fight would matter much on boxing skills or even knife defenses

Its just going to come down to come down to control of the other person to limit damage, two hands on one. Grabbing his arm with both if yours and controlling it to not get stabbed repeatedly, hopefully break something, throw him to the ground , get out alive.

That's OK with me :D lol

PS, Becker is where its at. Really try for that 11 whenever it pops up.

I don't have one either but am adding a 14 to my Christmas list lol, so I'll be OK :)

I was only teasing man no worries!! And its late so i guess a little MA talk wont hurt....But if he was kicking your leg and you stayed standing just looking at him.. he failed all around... If im going for a leg im kicking it like i was trying to kick a door down, bring my knee up towards my abdomen then kick downwards with force. If I connect and you keep standing on that leg just looking at me, well then im just going to take that butt whipping and ask for your autograph when its over LMAO

Are you using it on a gun or breaker bar? I actually think I have a few 32mm Non impact sockets, I'll check in the morning, I'm really goin to bed now lol (1.5 hours after I said that last lol)

Yes, this was no shin push/foot stomp. More like just chopping at the side, it hurt but was just aggravating more than anything.

Regardless of what he did, I WILL remain standing because again there was no weight on that leg.

I can see that crap coming a mile away , all that is usually required isa little shift of Balance between the feet to remain standing.

If i wasnt trying to prove a point and talk to him about improving afterwards, then with my light foot and his heavy off-balance, Tsubame Gaeshi would've picked him off before he knew it even happened.

But all is well in the world of martial arts :) it doesn't matter what you do, it all requires practice. Still, i stand by my recommendations.
