The one Busse that you will never ever sell!!

Well for me right now it's the only one I have left. My ASH1 LE. I have to admit that I'm still trying to love handle as much as the blade. NNFNO was my keeper but ended up selling it. The nuked handle on the NFNO fit me perfect. The ASH feels like it wants to but just doesn't. I need the ASH 1 blade on the NFNO handle and I'd say it would be puurrrfect. All that said, I absolutely love the ash not to mention this sexy rainwalker sheath

I have to agree with your assessment between the ASH-1 and Nano Fusion Natural Outlaw. I've owned several ASH-1 over the years including the following : Combat Grade .32" w/ Magnum G-10, Battle Grade .25" w/ Magnum Canvas Micarta, HOG Edition .32" w/ Magnum Linen Micarta & Custom Clip Point Skinny w/ Magnum G-10. My favorite of the lot was the Custom Skinny.

While the ASH-1 is an awesome blade shape, I am not fond of the handle paired together with that particular blade pattern. I would wager that I might really appreciate the handle married to the longer blade of the ASH-2, but I've never handled this one yet. NFNO on the other hand just feels perfectly matched with the Fusion handle to the blade shape/profile.

I've never been an ASH-1 guy like some people around these parts.... I guess I might need to try drinking some more Kool-aid so I can understand what all the fuss is about. :p:p

There was another option in June 2011. At the Blade Show that year in Atlanta Busse Combat showed and sold the AshWacker Prototypes 1 of 9. There were 4 blades to a set. Blades were 6.5", 7.5", 8.5" and 9.5". These were .220" thick blades with convex edges, spear pointed (basically) all lengths were also Satin finished w/Black Paper Micarta. Beautiful knives. I still own the 6.5" & 8.5".

Do a Foo search using Ash Whacker Lineage, Jun 2011 and a thread started by l2lku2. He did a fantastic job of comparison pics showing the ASH hilt compared to the Ash Whacker hilt. I wish the Ash Whacker would come back around. Comfortable to use. I've split Butternut, Spaghetti and Acorn Squash with my 8.5' and it's a easy chore. Look it up in Search!!!

You may or may not be one of those "ASH-1" guys I was referring to... hard to tell around here what is really going on anymore. Maybe I need to drink more??:confused:
..... I am frankly not sure what you are actually babbling about. Yes absolutely I love the ASH1 and I don’t think there is any significant secret about that point, in fact most would say it is somewhat of a running joke here now. So I hardly find it surprising that I would answer any question generally phrased around “what’s your favourite Busse” as I did, most would be shocked if I answered otherwise. You will note that i don’t generally say that is HAS to be another’s favourite knife because, shock horror, everyone has a different hand and different taste so quite clearly they will have different feelings to me/you/that chipmunk in the corner. Happy happy days, its called choice and we all have one. I don’t ever recall having tried to dispense “koolaid” at any point (not a term we antipodeans use in fact), I would probably be grateful if more people wished to rid themselves of the knife that offends you so.

Do however feel free to share your ever insightful views, choice is what makes that interesting.

Andy, I was only poking some fun because your are THE resident 'ASH guy'. It's easy when someone such as yourself is so heavily biased to one design and certainly wasn't faulting your choice in knives. If it works for you that is awesome, we all certainly develop our own preferences based on what we like and what works.

Andy, well said Brother !!! Well said. One of the great things of Busse Combat is CHOICE. I had oh 6 ASHs back before I got sick. I wish I had several back. Still have one ASH and one ASH2, my wife will deal with those when the time comes.
So in my last sentence I think I answered the OP's question, "The one (ok 2) Busse you will never sale".

ASH Whacker 9.5 & 7.5

ASH-1 in the pics is a .22

On the next 3 shots, the talon holes are lined up, the handle scales are much further forward on the ASH.

While the ASH Whacker shares the ASH blade shape, it has the more chamfered spine of the BWM

I don't know if the chamfered spine is creating the illusion, I will need to look in more detail, but it seems the ASH Whacker tip is thinner.

Found them, pretty interesting stuff. I remember seeing these somewhere back in time, haven't ever seen those come up for sale on the market though... somebodies hoarding those beauties for sure.

There are many I wish I had not sold, but there is one that I do regret selling the most. But, the boss man himself asked me to sell it back to him, so there was no way I could say no.

Ugh, please do tell. What knife was it that you sold back to Jerry? You've got my attention...

I bought a Sabre SFNO on the bay a # of years back (long before the LEs). It had an inscription on one side that was not shown/disclosed in the sale.

I sent a message to Jerry to see if he could explain the inscription, and he explained that it was a special gift, that the owner must have fallen on hard times, and that he (Jerry) wanted to trade me for another knife to give it back to the person.

That showed me a LOT about what the Busse family is all about.

And, not only did Jerry send me the trade we agreed on, he threw in an extra for good measure.

Jerry, you the man! Curious what knife did you get in trade? I bet it was sweet!

.... this is essentially a “what is YOUR favourite Busse” thread, I find no need to justify my choice nor defend it, it is a simple statement of personal preference, had it been a “what Busse should I get thread” it then begets a different answer or at lest some justification of the choice. Its not that thread. Likewise a “what’s your most used Busse” would also, to the surprise of many perhaps, have a different response and rationale as well.

No need to defend your choices, again I was only teasing and meant nothing by it.
