The one knife of your collection

You are the very definition of devotion

Quite some interesting answer for a fun thread.
In reality I assume you guys are either very well prepared, carry multiple knives ready-to-go even at home or have SHTF packs in your car. But thats completely beside the point.
I meant more like in line of turning your previously "non-user" knives into a "user" by means of emergency - What balance to strike between user value and actual money value, or other reasons, deciding in a split second.

Non-user? Non-user? What is this 'non-user' you speak of? ;)

i carry keep a duffle next to the front door just inside my office.... which just so happens to be right next to my knife display case. I would open the case sweeps the 3 shelves into the duffle and haul :-D
would take less than 20 seconds

Could be that there is a more fitting term used on BF.
Non users are in my book knives, one would collect for the sake of having rather than the need (aka display queens or safe queens).

Just mess'n with ya. I do have one safe queen that would fit the bill, a Sambar Stag handle, BG-42 Buck 110. It would make a good user for practical purposes.

I would feel real sorry for the people around me, knowing that a few minutes from now dozens of knives would be flying through the air at 200 mph...

Shelter in place. Seriously. If a tornado hits the dirty little pothole of a city I live in, the combination of demolished section 8 apartments and twenty year old Honda sedans that were thrown like toys would make the road impassable. I have a chainsaw, a Sawzall, axe, hammer, a dog who is enthusiastic about protecting his property, and canned goods. I don't see the problem.

Oh, and a kukri. If I were to actually answer the OP's question, it would be my 8" kukri.

I would have to be my Randall Mod#25, because though insurance would be covering it, i wouldnt be able to take the 4 year wait for another one...

One of the Walter Brend Fixed blades should do it.

I have a busse Skinny ASH a multitool and a hatchet in my B.O.B along with a few guns and some important documents plus the computers i wouldnt need much, ialso have a go bag in my car so you can add a buck paklite and an ontario kabar clone with sharpened swedge, and crow bar to the list. I might try to grab my custom bud nealy, but id probably be wearing it at the time so its most likely a moot point.

Everyone says they'd grab an axe or hatchet as if whilst fleeing from the tornado they could get out of the car lop a tree trunk in half with one fell swoop and then continue on their way...

After solidly anchoring my home to terra firma with my BK-2, I'd get out there and wrastle that mean ol' F4 to the ground with my bare hands... :p

Seriously though, whatever I had in my pocket would be the survivor. Priority one is getting friends and family to the basement... everything else is insured.
