While patiently waiting for today's deal as no doubt many others, I wondered what is your kukri "soulmate?" I know it is hard to pick just one model or size but otherwise we won't get anywhere, so just imagine you can only keep one from your collection. I can update this opening post to keep count. And to start it off: my current favorite is a 17.5" FF by Young Sher. What's yours?

P.s. cantina post perhaps!

Edit:The tally so far (please pick only one, I know it is near impossible):

17.5" FF (2), 18" ASTK (2), M-43 (2), 18" Gelbu Special (1), 18" Stg. Bonecutter (1), 15" Stg. Bonecutter (1), 20" CAK (1), 21.5" Dui Chirra (1), 25.5" Kumar Kobra (1), 21" Chitlangi (1), 20.25" Sgt. SCAK (1), 20" ASTK (1), 12" AK (1), 22" Sgt. Keyboard Kutter (1), 18" YCS(1)

Mine might be my 18" ASTK, but i don't know, i can totally see myself being an HI philanderer. If only I had more money to fulfill my whorish desires...

More to distract myself, though I doubt there will be a dotd today, perhaps in the evening...

Check the "Currently Active Users" at the bottom of the Main H.I. Forum - Auntie Yangdu is active.... she might just be browsing around, or she might be getting ready to throw some chum into the waters :p

Well this would be hard since I get my hands on one but... what I know I like

full tang
rivets in the handle
smooth wood handle
polished blade
silver not brass
medium size that would be good for light chopping but not an anvil

now, if that even comes together in one kind of Khuk I don't know. Sounds like my soul mate to me though.

Pala had his left eye surgery today, so auntie has been quite busy.
Then i had to go and yak her ear off.......
I don't know if there will be a DOTD today or not.
Surely you guys can go a day without.

she just posted a new knife... maybe there will be more as she has done in the past?

In any case, I can do without for certain. :)

Yeah;) we could...but you should never underestimate Auntie:D
Something special to end the week!!!

Based purely on looks it'd be a cat fight between one of Sgt's older (style) Bonecutters, a Foxy Folly, and an ASTK.

20" CAK

Nice one, I was just oiling/playing with my 20" CAK and wondering yet again at the perfect balance that makes this beast feel light as a feather when drawing figure eights in the air. I think that 3/8inch spine is the perfect choice for this and most other models under 20" or at most 7/16. 1/2inch is just overkill IMO.

Thats easy its my HI Dui Churra....I own the knife and use it alot and just holding it makes me drool. Its one of the few knives that truly still awes me at its size and feel....It also demands my respect when using as holding it I am constantly aware of how usefull and really dangerous it could be if I am careless for even a moment with it.

It hangs from my closet door in my Bedroom and my Honey has her 16' AK hanging from hers. I love the little tools that come with it. Besides being a Bad Arse knife its also a very awesome conversation piece. I have YET to meet anyone who has seen and/or held it to not gape there mouth at its size and feel both reverence and fear ;)

I have a number of khuks I really like.

Probably my favorite HI's are

17" 23oz Ganga Ram
15" 20oz Ganga Ram
16" 25 oz Bonecutter
18" 23 oz Foxy Folly
17" 23oz YCS

While the big khuks are great for chopping logs and stuff I find the ones that are still light enough to carry and swing w/o shoulder fatigue are my faves.

A lot of the khuks are too heavy for me.

One khuk I really love the looks of is the Dui Churra.

Anytime one is up for sale I'm always scoping out the weight. If I ever see one go up for sale that is in the right weight range it will be added to the above list.

My favorite one is my Tarwar, for fun anyways. But if it came to only one, I'd pick my most practical one, my 15 inch 25 ounce Bonecutter by Sgt Khada

You've got a lightweight.

Ereshkigala (my 20" above) is a bit over 1/2" at the spine, and a bit over 3.5 pounds.

However, like you said, even something like that, which should feel like a boat anchor, has exceptional balance and I find quite easy to swing. Best part is, I've learned to let her weight and gravity to do most of the work, while I just guide the blade.
