The one kuk for you, your "soulmate"

Thats easy its my HI Dui Churra....I own the knife and use it alot and just holding it makes me drool. Its one of the few knives that truly still awes me at its size and feel....It also demands my respect when using as holding it I am constantly aware of how usefull and really dangerous it could be if I am careless for even a moment with it.

It hangs from my closet door in my Bedroom and my Honey has her 16' AK hanging from hers. I love the little tools that come with it. Besides being a Bad Arse knife its also a very awesome conversation piece. I have YET to meet anyone who has seen and/or held it to not gape there mouth at its size and feel both reverence and fear ;)
I remember when I used to think my Battle Mistress was a huge knife and a killer chopper. Now it's in the medium category, and an OK chopper.

I have a number of khuks I really like.

Probably my favorite HI's are

17" 23oz Ganga Ram
15" 20oz Ganga Ram
16" 25 oz Bonecutter
18" 23 oz Foxy Folly
17" 23oz YCS

While the big khuks are great for chopping logs and stuff I find the ones that are still light enough to carry and swing w/o shoulder fatigue are my faves.

A lot of the khuks are too heavy for me.

One khuk I really love the looks of is the Dui Churra.

Anytime one is up for sale I'm always scoping out the weight. If I ever see one go up for sale that is in the right weight range it will be added to the above list.

Pick just one, please. Ok, maybe two ;)

I had to measure it. In metric it's about exactly 9mm.

Thanks, that's what I thought, not quite 3/8 inches and still as sturdy as they come as I am sure you put it through hell and back. Good to know that one doesn't need to lug around a 1/2 " spine in the forest if quality of make is up to Sgt. levels.

The forumite who sold the SCAK to me told me it was "more like a short fighting sword" and he's right. It feels like a sword. The thing to keep in mind with this one is Sgt Khadka forged the fullers broad, but deep, resulting in a large khukri which is deceptively fast and agile. Vicious cutting power. Wow.

I gotta vote for my 18" Sgt. Khadka Bonecutter. It's awe-inspiring to use. I have a healthy fear, and respect, for it. Enough to keep me from hurting myself with it, I hope.

I have a most extensive collection of Knuckles. Those are some really nice ones you have there IS, I like them a lot and have emailed Mr. Brock about a few of them already. ;)

My soulmate isn't a Khuk... I love my Tamangs! Now then, if I must choose a Khukuri, I would need to say it is my 22" Sgt. K Keyboard Kutter (Bonecutter). It just feels great in my hand and it chops up a storm. I love the thing and am very happy I as able to buy it from il bruche.

Maybe a Tarwar for the sword...

I hear that: my bura tarwar is definitely a favorite, too! I just think the 18" ASTK is a more useful tool, and is what i would take with me, along with firearms, if i were wandering a post-apocalyptic world (which seems to be a favorite, man-fantasy scenario on these forums).

Not me, if I were in my Post Apocalyptic fantasy, it would DEFINITELY be the Tarwar and my Tamang along with a long gun and a side arm or two.
No doubt about it, I want a Tarwar if I have to behead Zombies.

Ah, the zombie angle! i've thought long and hard about which of my HI knives i would choose to do battle with the undead, but i'm concerned with having the blades getting lodged in skulls. Actually, i think the Cold Steel Indian War Club would be, hands down, the best zombie dispatcher in a melee situation:

(( Auction/Deal/Bargain Spotting Removed ))

Plus it's pretty cheap and nigh-indestructible. Sorry to be so off topic!

OK, last time I am going here... I have one of those things and they aren't a very good club at all, you'd be better off making one out of hardwood with one of your khuks well before the rotting dead come out of their graves than you will with one of them. Soak it in a bath of BLO for a few days and it will become like a rock.

Keep the Tarwar too, honestly I don't see it lodging in bone. It has a good wedge shape, is pretty thick and you are the one sharpening or not sharpening it as needed for what you are trying to get done.
