The ones you keep

Many of us have bought and sold many knives in our search for "the one". The search is part of the reason we collect knives. I was thinking of my knife collection and all the knives I have bought and sold and realized I have one knife in my collection that I have never considered selling. I have knives that are more expensive with better steels that are more desirable but for me the one I seem to always keep is my Kershaw Knockout. I love this knife and keep looking for the versions I don't have. What for you is the knife/knives that you just keep keeping?

I've had quite a few Umnumzaan's, and can't ever see myself not keeping at least one (and the one below is probably it). Same with several Emerson models; I know my Custom 7 is a keeper, as is my 98-spec 1999 Commander. And though I know I'll take flack for it, I absolutely LOVE my Medford Viper - it really is a very, very capable knife. A Spydie Gayle Bradley 1 is permanent, and so is at least one Hinderer XM18 (3.5" for me).

These is two will be buried with me....I think!

In my 20s and 30s things passed through my hands that I will never be able to replace... So it's the reversal for me I keep them all.
I am fond of small sebenzas and some traditionals

I pretty much keep them all. Even most of my old SOG blades are still around unused. I do use my Access Card 2.0 however often. Makes a good little desk knife or a last ditch "survival kit knife".

I recently did a purge and kept 4 folders and two fixed.

Though really only four knives are safe from any future downsizing.

My Fallkniven F1, Emerson Mini CQC 15, Spyderco Military, and Paramilitary 2.

Ive reduced my stable down quiet a bit. They're pretty much all keepers now but I do have these three that I can't seem to carry enough. I find myself getting these out just to hold and look at when not in use. I usually have one of these three in hand when I'm listening to the Ranger game.

Spyderco Delica Ti/Damascus, Native 5, and Manix 2 were all gifts from my wife...they're not going anywhere.
ZT 0566CF was a gift from my brother, and given the non flipper treatment by me...it stays.
Lg Sebenza 21 Micarta shares my daughter's birthday, and is my current favorite knife...definite keeper.

Ive worked myself down to around 10 folders and love them all. Id be hard pressed to get rid of any of them, but those definitely stay put.

I just posted a thread about knives no longer in production mentioning my favorite knife. Its the REKAT SIFU. This red one is uber rare 1/50 which I was told is actually 1/25 because REKAT did 25 Red Sifu models and 25 Carnivore models for a total of 50 for both knives as BladeForum commemorativesView attachment 660371

Also wouldn't get rid of my Spyderco Manix XL's either ;)

I used to think there were a few knives I'd own forever. But then in a move toward minimalism I steadily purged all my knives down to four folders and two fixed blades. In that process I've come to the realization that I could actually sell all of them if need be. Don't get me wrong; I enjoy having the knives I currently own. But the only two possessions I'd be deeply distraught over losing are my dog and my truck. And I use the term "possession" with my dog loosely because she's a family member.

I have quite a few pocket knives and about a dozen different Benchmade knives.
But this one always makes it back to my pocket. The D2 steel on this knife is really amazing.
I've had it for 4 or 5 years, cut nylon strapping , cut up boxes and outside of an occasional stropping the factory edge is still very sharp.

The ones I keep are my large bg42 regular sebenza, rek reground xm18, and my MSG III. I've used them too much now so If I were to sell them I'd loose too much $.

I'm personally not searching for THE One, but I"m looking for those which I like most. So for now I'm keeping the few I've purchased. Sor far CRK, Rockstead, William Henry, and Andre Thorburn are the ones I've chosen. I have a few other ideas and other brands which I may choose to go with in the future.

My entire collection, either because I love them too much, they are too beat up to be worth anything, or some combination of the two. Here's a pic, sans a beat to hell Brous Bionic.
