The Order Of The Cattle King (The Mighty Stockman)

Don't carry it everyday, but it definitely sees an adequate amount of pocket time. I really love the usefulness of the sheepsfoot, slices blister packages like butter

medium stockmans get more pockettime due to convenience and i'm living in a big town but if i had to choose just one it would be this jumbo stockman...perfect for every task, from hard work to food prep...perfect fit and finish, perfect walk and talk...love it! (i tried to darken the amber bone scales with coffee and tee, it worked, but the blades came out pitch black as well so i had to repolish them, so theres some patina left from that treatment)

Quite a few Old Times already shown. Here's a couple of pics to highlight the variety of OT stockman patterns:

Some new stockman to include a pretty mint Schrade 61ot, a Queen made Moore Maker 5301, and an S&M with awesome bone handles and ATS-34 blades.

Wow Bob, that is quite a collection of Schrade Old Timer Stockman pattern knives!! OH

I've been collecting Old Timers since 2004 when the Imperial-Schrade Corporation went bankrupt and closed. Started off buying factory closeouts 'cause they were so inexpensive. Now the prices have skyrocketed and it's getting harder to find the real gems.

I don't have a lot of stockmans  but this Queen #9 has become favorite work knife. I've lowered the sheepsfoot a little bit and profiled the top of the spey to smooth it out and give it a little more grace.

I have no photos, but just received my new Buck 301 today, and this will become a part of my regular EDC.

Brothers of the order of the cattle king, I have now joined your ranks. I purchased my very first stockman on Wednesday, a cheapy for fifteen dollars AU. It has now displaced all of my knives despite the lack of quality. I am now a stockman addict, the cutting power in the package and delightful serpentine shape have won me over.

While playing in the back yard when I was seven I found my first pocket knife and since it was dull my mother let me keep it! That knife almost 45 years ago was an Imperial small Stockman with faux stag handles and carbon blades. It cleaned up nicely but alas like all my early knives is no longer in my possession. The three blade stockman and cattle knife are my favorites. To me the sowbelley and railsplitter are cheaters the sowbelley is more stockman then cattleknife and the railsplitter more cattleknife the stockknife. I can't get enough of these and I'm looking forward to soon adding a CV chestnut Case Sowbelley!

Long a fan of the Stockman knife, I had stored this 1998 Case green bone Pocket Worn 6347SS away some time ago. I just carried it early this week to give it a try - I like it enough to place it in my EDC rotation. That brought up the "need" for a back-up - I found a new 2005 Case Brothers Cutlery Co 6347SS yesterday, nice jigging with a hint of orange in the bone - closest to a "Halloween" knife that I will ever come! Both of these knives measure 3-7/8", but with the nicely rounded bolsters carry in the pocket like a Medium Stockman. I hope this will be one of those enduring threads, lets keep the Stock knife pictures coming! OH
