The Oregon Knife Show for 2016!

Some great finds were had at the show that is for sure.

JustinR, RDaneel, Old Engineer. Thanks for the great comments. I was amazed at the comments from the people at the show about my Grandpa's knives. While wheeling my Father thru the lobby to go into the show
we were stopped by a gentleman who saw the display earlier and he shook my Fathers hand with a great big smile and talked to my Father for about 10 minutes about how great his Fathers knives were.
It was a great day. The comments kept coming all weekend. And to top it off the display won a nice award. The award itself means little to me. The recognition means the world.

Gedlicks, as usual I'm late to the party. What an amazing display and a great way to share your grandfather's legacy. The picture of you and your dad is top notch! Thank you for sharing your grandfather's work and the photo of you and your dad! Great work on the display cases!

I really appreciate all of you sharing your pictures, knives and stories very much! Thanks everyone:thumbup::thumbup::D

Your grandfathers knives are just tremendous and the your work on the display is outstanding in so many ways! The smile on your dads face is priceless. He was not going to miss that show...man that is cool:cool: Thanks!

Dave

Here are two boy's knives I bought in the closing minutes of the show.

The black one is a painted steel I.K.Co. - unused with chain intact. A cheap knife when first offered, most were totally trashed (who wasn't young once, hmmmm??)!
The other one is tang stamped Townley Metal & Hdwe. Co. Kansas City, with a nice etch.
Full chain also. At first glance it looks Schrade-made, but I will wager it is not!
The jigging is not exactly Schrade-like, and everything else is slightly different. Anyone know who made it??
The six-layer chevron beads are the genuine mid-1800s articles, found in Eugene while I was hanging around there! What luck!!

Huh, very interesting. I would guess they would of been in competition with Curtin & Clark. Townley moved out of KC to Denver in 1980's - but was in operation around the same time period of Curtin and Clark 1890's +

Super boys knives, Charlie! And you always have the finest beads!! And I think I noticed a really fine string of turquoise in your display case:D

Charlie, I like that Townley knife. Are you going to give us anymore info on who you believe made it? Beautiful beads as well. More good photos, Dave.

Those boy's knives with chains are just fantastic! I would love to see some chains on some of the new 14s from GEC!

Is it wrong to plan a trip to Oregon/Washington/BC around a knife show? I plan on visiting the Leatherman, Benchmade and Kershaw factory while I'm out there, but the Oregon Knife Collector club/association posts info about shows near me, and their pictures look like a lot of fun.

Yes, this is down the track a bit as I've heard those down under say (Duncan correct me if I'm wrong).

Actually, looking at five years down the road.
I've been to all of those except the Kershaw factory. I would say, definitely 100% worth it. Plus, you get to enjoy the beautiful Oregon countryside!

Plus you get to meet all us crazy folks!

Tons of great custom knife makers! A Great show overall. Buck and Spyderco owners show up, but never the Portland Oregon knife companies.
