The Otanashi Noh Ken? The bigger and better Hissatsu?

True, however, it'd be nice to not have to do that right outta the box. Besides what I mentioned above it is a decent looking knife and the size of it sounds good!

What you dont like tinkering with your blades!? lol jk I can understand.

I love a lot of Japanese style blades, these kwaiken's ect. I saw the CRkT Hissatsu fixed blade at gander mtn the other day I was so tempted since I had a gift card but I realized I would never use it besides getting it as sharp as possible and cutting paper.

Now I can get behind a folder!

I really like this design over the Hissatsu and Hei Ho. The Frame Lock makes it a winner for me. I love Frame Locks.
Looks like where it turns into a Tanto Grind can be fixed easily as well to make it a Non-Tanto.
I don't really care for the LAWKS either but it's not a complete deal breaker.
I may have to pick one up... but it's huge.
I'll probably handle one before I would decide.

Big is what got my attention about it. I like the Hissatsu and an even larger version would just be fantastic.

I'll be honest, this looks like a single-purpose tool - homocide... I guess that that is the point.

Yup. Some call it self defense. But, I have yet to whittle a stick or open a box with mine. Reserved for the 'if' moment arrives, Gawd forbit.

The 'new guy's size is the same as the Hissatsu. Love the frame lock, not the scale texture. Guess I'll have to get the new one and keep the old one too!

One thing's for sure. If I had something for sale I would be going to whomever put that together to make my ad.

What is a combination of nylon and brass pivot washers though? Never heard of this...

Cold Steel, and probably other manufacturers as well, lay a nylon washer atop a brass washer on each side of the blade to maintain low friction in the pivot. This is what i found in disassembling my CS Recon 1.

That over travel stop looks brutal!!!

Looks like it is a functional failure as well, if this was designed for soldiers, as it would be a serious snag point, especially if it's mounted on a molle system.

And at that price? Hell no!

Sorry but I don't like a single thing about this knife.

The Burnley Kwaikan is much nicer.

I have the hissatsu folder its a great knife it's pretty tough! I open boxes, mail and works pretty good as a steak knife and works great for cutting tightly closed zip ties but sucks for making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches lol. But for the last 2 years or so I've really been into my camillus maxx 5.5 Bowie and kershaw tilt. So I'm thinking that this new version is going to be great I'm into the bigger blades. I would be be really cool if they had a custom version like titanium scales,vg steel or maybe d2 and with out the extra safety lock. I can't wait to get one!

This looks like a pretty good knife for the price point. I would hope the unlock bar stop is refined in the production units, and not like the pictures knife.
One thing I liked about the hissatsu 2 folder, aka the heiho, is that you can use the thumb opening disk to "wave" open the knife. Hopefully the arrangement on this knife allows that also.
