The Para 2, why?

I still have a PM2 standard digicam S30V I bought 2 or 3 years ago and it's a decent knife good slicer. I only use it for outside food prep these days and it lives with my camping/picnic general outdoors gear.

It's funny that I found this thread as I was just contemplating getting a "Blurple" PM2.

My story: I have always thought that they PM2, while a great working knife, was just fugly. The design did end up growing on me, and I pulled the trigger on a black DLC blade/Orange scale'd PM2 that was exclusive to a certain distributor about a year or so ago. At the time I was carrying a small sebenza insingo, so that was my "normal" sized knife. When I opened the box and took the PM2 out I was surprised at how much bigger the knife felt in the hand than it looked in the pics. Upon opening the blade, I was surprised at how short that was. It took me all of about 5 minutes to realize I had made a mistake in this purchase and sent the knife back.

Fast forward a year or so, and I'm now used to carrying larger framed knives like my Large 21 Micarta Insingo Sebenza and ZT0562cf. The Small Seb's feel *too* small now, and those have gone away. I'm thinking that the ergos of the PM2 might work for me now that I'm accustomed to the larger frames, so I've been seriously kicking around the idea of picking one up!

As many have said the PM2 is a great knife, no doubt. Even the people that didn't like how the knife worked out for them still saw the benefit of the design. I think this is one of those knives that are good enough that even if you don't like it the first time around, giving it a second chance is not a bad idea.

And worst case scenario - If you decide it's not for you, it will sell quickly on the exchange!

Ok you clowns convinced me. I took a flier on the exchange for a Manix 2 in S110V as I wanted to see what I thought about the grind and blade shape and just how great of a slicer it is. My main use for a Spydie will be cardboard by the burn barrel or firepit. I liked the Manix 2 enough that I figured I should get a Para 2 and see what the differences are, which one I prefer...etc. Of coarse I waited for a S110V to come up on the Exchange (because I'm an admitted steel snob) and found one at a price I couldn't pass on, so put in my order and have made payment. For my daily needs I have not found anything yet that will replace my Mini-Barrage as an EDC, but I tend to find myself ordering different knives for different tasks. Now I guess I will have 2 cardboard knives, may the best slicer win I guess.

Hope you enjoy yours Amoo. I too tought it looked ugly and just generally was not attracted to it untill it landed in my hand. Also the blurple variant is absolutly worth it!

I bought one because so many people liked them and was looking for something similar. I bought the 110 and M4 between the two haven't been carrying anything else. It sits in the back pocket can hardly tell it's there I don't pry with knives but it cuts great. The blade ratio doesn't bother me I like the size for the good control heavy enough to get behind but good in pocket. I never felt more edge would help me if so I guess I would start carrying the Military which has been sitting quite a while.

Well in Spanish "Para tú" means "For you"..........

So I don't see how you can't buy the knife, it was MADE for you:D

Guys, guys, guys look look it's....it's BLURPLE!!!!!

So I snagged this puppy off the exchange on the cheap because it had a chip in the blade. When I looked at the picture the seller left I was like man that is a pretty big chip. When I got the knife and looked at it I was like, man that's like the tiniest chip ever. Either way the bevel was a little off so I threw it on the WE and re-profiled it to 16.5dps with a 21.5dps micro bevel.

First impressions, it's big. It definitely needs a good spa treatment. It's not dirty by any means but I spa treatment any new knife. I surprisingly don't hate it. It's big. The factory scales aren't exactly something I'm crazy about. The ergos are just fine, just a little rough for my tastes. That can easily be fixed after market though. It's big. The gimping on the handle is actually quite well done. And finally. it's big. Overall I definitely like the design and feel of the knife and it actually has made me excited for a Para 3 in S110V version.

Also in case anybody was wondering, no you can't have it :P. I'm going to keep it as a box cutter as I do like it better then the Manix II. I don't however see myself EDCing this knife as it's simply just too big for me. The width honestly doesn't bother me one bit, it's simply the overall length and I feel that is something the Para 3 will address nicely for me.

Many things:

Perfect size goldilocks knife, not too big not too small
Handsome knife (IMO) - even'ish handle/blade ratio, love the blade shape
FFG good slicer
Good performance S30V
Big lanyard hole
Fun Compression lock like Axis

I have got a PM2 some time after getting into knives with a 0350

The 0350 is still one of my favourite hard use folder but it is à the heavy side for EDC and it has basic ergonomics

The PM2 is light enough to be used as an EDC and it has great ergonomics
I enjoy the blade geometry , the choil, the overall ergonomics and the large handle which gives a lot of option for handling the knife

I had a black/black s30v version but as I start to move away from black blades I have moved for a blurple version

I am reducing my knife collection but the PM2 is still my default blade for holidays... when I don’t know what I can expert from my EDC and don’t want to carry a too expensive blade I go for the PM2

Awesome knife and good work on the reprofile. Also, legendary that you included the dip can as a prop for the blade haha.

I bought my PM2 years ago, but never carried it much until only recently. I don't really know why. I'm liking it more now. So at the moment it's in my rotation and does a great job in day-to-day tasks. Carries easily, too, especially since changing the clip to tip-up carry. Mine is the basic uncoated S30V, black G-10 model.

For me, the PM2 is one of those knives that just fits the good balance of toughness, usability (slicing, cutting, etc), carry and comfort (ergonomics).
The PM2 just hits that balance.

It’s a model that all knife nuts should own.

I loved the PM2 blade and ergos, but I did not love the compression lock. It's awkward to manipulate. If it had a traditional liner lock I'd have lots of PM2's... right now I have 0

I also have a PM2, but I am curious to why you did care for the compression lock. Was it awkward because you weren't use to it, due you have small or large hands, etc. Ultimately, everyone has different preferences and different size hands, so I definitely understand preferring another knife.
