I brought a 105 with me to the wintering grounds in New Mexico. I was not sure I would need it but lo and behold no sharp knives in this rental. So far (nearly 2 months) it has performed its duties flawlessly. Hellofa knife

This afternoon, I was reading on a bowhunting forum and came across a thread titled, "Your go to hunting knife is?" There were several Pathfinders and other Buck knives mentioned, but this post made me smile.

"This is my favorite knife, although it doesn't get used anymore. It's a sentimental piece. It was my Father's go-to hunting knife, a Buck Pathfinder 105. As you can see from the wear on the blade, my father liked to sharpen his knives a lot. There's no telling how many critters this knife has gutted and skinned."

I’ve had a few over the years but give them away. They were always my favorite Buck fixed blade. I gave my brother mine with a custom made sheath when he was deployed overseas. My brother still has it after 25 years. I also gave one to my cousin. I’ll eventually get another

I'd say your handle has more swell than typical. Here is a photo from Buck's website for comparison.

I didn't think about checking the various on the website. The one in my pic seems to swell in all the right places and fill the hand for me. It is a joy to use. Was hoping my heritage series arriving soon would be the same.

Check out this Ron Spomer video on hunting knives - Pathfinder Club members will particularly like the first 2-1/2 minutes. I like to watch Ron's cartridge videos - I just like his diction and method of expressing himself and I quite often like his point of view. OH

Just received my New 105 Heritage edition. Saturday delivery on the Wednesday before?? Not too shabby Buck/USPS..

It really is a toss up between this 105 and the 117 in this weight class. I got a 118 in the Pro series and honestly its just got too much curve to earn my undying love.

I’ve been using this one in the kitchen a lot this week. The more I use the 105 the more I appreciate it and this thread.

Put the 105 to work today de-boning a couple pork butts and processing for the grinder. Ended up with about 20lbs of ground pork.

Here is a Pathfinder that found a different path. A custom 105 by Joe Houser (2001) with a black oxide blade and a handle with thin black lucite rings and a brass spacer.
