Took my recently aquired 105 on a solo backpacking trip in the rocky's. Basically I just wandered way up a creek and lived off fish, bannock, and instant coffee for 4 days. Heres a couple pics of it with some nice Rocky Mountain Whitefish. For anyone not from the north-west, they are a different species from the usual lake whitefish, pretty much only occuring in cold flowing water, they've got white meat but a pretty "trouty" taste. Mighty fine eating!

Thanks! I'd kind of drifted away from that kind of thing, I live right in good hunting and fishing so much of my camping tends to be road trips with the family. For a while I did some backcountry trips for hunting, but now that my kids are hunting I dont do so much of that either. This year I found some extra time and its been great reminder that I need to make more of an effort to do these trips. Got one more planned, a 10 day canoe trip/ mule deer hunt in late Sept... will probably be taking the Pathfinder on that one too.Wow, great use of four days!
That's a pretty one and the pattern is one of my favorites, even for USING!TAH I stated earlier that the 105 was my favorite Buck fixed blade which still remains. I’ve given away a handful of 105s’ to others as gifts. I am going to keep this one tho. Add me to the list

My pleasure!Gorgeous. I love the wood and brass combination. I was looking through this thread last night and almost bumped it but didn’t have any new pictures. Thanks for bumping it.![]()
I use them all. BOTM LE and the old stuff. It makes me smile when I bring them outThat's a pretty one and the pattern is one of my favorites, even for USING!I am still hoping to find a 105 (and a 118) with the buffalo horn handle, bison shield and chip flint blade.
I mean, that's fair. I don't want to ever get poked by the pointy end of a 105.Regarding the fighting grade. I cannot speak from personal experience, and probably wouldn't if I could, but I know someone who can. This isn't practical tactical, and I am not trying to make claims, but I have a friend who was a Scout Sniper, and he carried a vintage 105 during our recent conflicts. His uncle had carried that same 105 in Vietnam. They both seemed to think that the 105 was a very effective knife.
The 105 certainly doesn't pop into my head immediately when I think of tacticlol mall ninja knives, but I felt like I should point out that I know of at least two people who would give the knife a good fighting grade. I hope to never be in a position to develop an opinion myself.

This thread just made me realize that the 105 is one of the few standard Buck models I don't own and should buy one.
Needless to say, this is a beautiful knife, tongueriver. I had to come back for a second look. From an esteemed member here, this one has been hafted in a naturally found material from Africa. My latest.
