The Pemberton Appreciation Society

I enjoy my Pemberton in Ebony.

maybe you guys can help me out with this one. i found a pemberton that i would be interested in but the price is a little higher than i thought. compared to a modern case peanut which is less than 1/2 the price of the pemberton, does the pemberton quality match the price they are asking?

Yes.....don't let the small size fool you. It cost GEC just as much to manufacture a small knife vs. a full size knife.
If you held both the case Peanut and Pemberton in your hand, you'd see why there's a difference in the price.
Not saying that the peanut is sub-standard to the Pemberton.....just different.

Keep in mind that the Pemberton was a relatively limited run. Maybe a couple of hundred across the two brands....(my guess). They are built like mini tanks. Feel very robust in your hand. As I said earlier, the quality and fit and finish are top shelf. I have a couple of peanuts also, and they are great knives, I just prefer how my Pemberton feels in my hand.

Thats too funny!

Confession time.

I, Carl, Grand High Muckba Of The Cult Of The Peanut, is a closet member of the Pemberton Appreciation Society.

Late at night, when nobody is looking, I browse the GEC factory site, looking at the Pemberton. I fantasize over a nice slim single blade model with a stag handle. Or maybe a nice ebony scaled one. Afterward I feel like I've been cheating by looking at other small peanut size knives. Like I've been lusting after another that I've sworn to. I feel that the days are numbered until I too have a Pemberton in a pocket.

One is a mid to late 60's in bone (middle knife), the other is in yellow purchased a little over a year ago. I sold the chestnut peanut a couple of months back. They are nice...I just prefer the Pemberton.

that 60's model sounds nice. was the chestnut bone you sold an older one?

^^^^^ Nice!

Cards94...the chestnut was also a recent production....but then....cast your eyes to the lovely Pemberton ;)

is it better to buy it serialized or no serial number? i have the option.

It shouldn't make any difference in regards to quality. Given the option, I go without. I would rather not have a number engraved on the bolster and they are usually cheaper.

Anyone have a picture so a peanut and pemberton together so I can see the size?

I recently reposted some of my own comparison shots here.

Hope this helps. :)

Oh, and listen to PJake. When it comes to Pembertons, he knows. ;)

no luck. they don't have the autumn jigged bone without the serial #. i'm going to pass for now until i find one. any idea how the production schedule works for gec? i guess supply and demand.

I'm a closet admirer of the mighty pemberton.

Several times I have come close to clicking add to cart to a Northfield version clad with the cherry soda acrylic.

Missed out on a single blade Pemberton in olive jugged bone at BLADE. Been hard to find one online. Found the other variations, but not that one.

I shouldn't have clicked this thread. Just bought one....didn't even know I wanted one till today.

I love the Pemberton! Where the heck has the pic of my snakewood version gone, I just took pics of all my other knives a few weeks ago and I'll be darned if I can find it

I still might go for another, the black olive bone single blade Tidioute is a beauty too.
