The Perfect Knife !!!

MY perfect knife is the mora SL1 and the 510. I like how i can use them and not worry if i break them or loose them, and so far they have withstood all the abuse ive given then and they still cut like demons.

yeah you cant go wrong with the moras, they are a great beater knife. My favorite knife would be a Busse battle mistres.

I might get some laughs for this but I just added an improvise one hand opener to my buck 112 and it comes about as close as a folder can get.

This guy has 11 posts, and cuts through the issue here like a hot knife through butter. NO KNIFE IS PERFECT. You pick a favorite and live with it.

Good post flip.

So your perfect knife size would be ?

And if pushed to pick ONE from your collection, it would be ?

Perfect size for field carry would be a 4" blade. My SS4 is perfect for me.

For work and city carry, something with a 3" blade is perfect. My Swamp Warden is perfect then.

Buck-Strider SBMF would have to be my current favorite. For the price, I havent been able to find a knife to match it, yet.

This semester I had to take a ceramics class. It was fun and learned alot. The perfect knife, the perfect cup, bowl or vase, is a constant process of development.

Some guys here say, "it is the one you have" or "there is not one" with that attitude we would still be living in caves. Some people said, "hey, I think, I can do or make this better." You should see the obsession with ceramicists, who have been making mugs for 20 years, it is very interesting. I am happy with my chinese assembly line mug that cost $7. There are ceramic mugs that go for $50. and on to very high prices. I am not on a mug quest but I am on a knife quest.

If I were in another emergency survival situation? I know I would probably freak and cry but it wouldn't be because I didn't have the perfect knife.

Hear, hear- the desire for the best for ourselves is what pulled us from the mire. Striving for this doesn't mean we are dependent on the results, quite the opposite.

By learning how to and appreciating the process of flint knapping, for example, we carry our 'best' knife on our belt and better understand its use.

Pit,I'll play...I have to say that my Aurora's from BRKT is the best all around knives I own.

That's several suggestions for a BRKT knife now--Aurora or the like if you lean toward bushcraft, Fox River or Highland Special if you lean toward hunting/camp chores--but either way, these are fantastic choices. Maybe not "the" perfect knife, but awfully close to all-around winners. I went the Fox River/Highland route, and they're my go-to knives now for hiking, camping...

Does getting 100 suggestions from 100 people help?! :D I think that wherever three knifenuts are gathered, there will be at least five opinions. Multiply appropriately!

Hey Riley, a lot of Buck folders can be opened one-handed without an 'one hand opener' by holding onto the blade and 'flicking' it open, 112 included. BTW, nothing wrong with a 112, own one myself.

i don't think anyone here is capealbe one the 1 knife quest thats like asking don woneon demarko to have only one lady:) and no i don't have the prefect knife the quest contiues;)the one i like the best is my spyderco temperance

They way I see it knives are tools and no one tool does all jobs well.I try to pick a blade with the most utility uses in mind usually 3.5 to 5 in. fixed blade. When in the woods. also a stockman folder & benchmade 940 axis lock in my pocket on my belt i'll also have a leatherman supertool .if i'am not in the woods i'll take the fixed blade off the belt and carry a Boker 2000 or a vintage Puma Prince.:)

Hey Pitdog, Thanks for the comments. Not to long ago there was a artical
in backwoodsmen mag. One of the last things the writer Dan S. had to say was that if you were to say be out getting wood and happen to come back to camp and relize that something was wrong. That there were people in your camp and there was to many to take on. So what do you do you slip back into the forest and what is on your belt and in your pockets is what you have to survive with. Dan said that his belt knife would be a Dozier wilderness knife the knife has to provide your shelter, food and water needs, fire, split wood, maybe dig with your one fixed blade knife for your needs. That one knife for me is the Mountaineer II made by Chris Reeves. I have been using them for several years now and find that they are what I would
want if the poop hits the fan time.
Take care all
Bryan

The perfect knife is the knife that used by a Master Woodsman who can use it in a hundred different ways and still not be satisfied that it can do nothing more. The knife is only as good as the person using it.

For me, I've found it. It is a custom made by Charles May and is the result of a little survey I did. There is an article on it in the next Tactical Knives magazine. I put it through every test I could think of and walked away happy. In fact, knowing I planned to use this one as my personal woods knife, I subjected it to harder use than normal.
It may not be the answer for everyone but I'm pleased and will be using it for years to come.
(Now, please do not relay this to my wife because I still plan to get others. They will just have to be compared to the OSK1 from Charley.)

You know, I've been wondering everytime Im preparing to go out what knife I should bring. And the one that allways finds its way out is the Masterhunter in Carbon V. The tapering tang, blade thickness and edge geometry I find myself loving the way it cuts. Grippy handle and secure sheath it kicks butt.

Which model? I have been looking at Charles May knives for quite awhile. I really like the looks of the Big Hand Scandi.
