The perfect pocket knife.

Well this one ain't perfect, but it's what I'm looking for and cannot find.

2" blade
thumbstud open - (thumbstud will have to be removable for sharpening.)
AUS8, 440C, VG1, VG10, AUS 10, or 154CM blade
Pocket clip
Lockback
modified drop point.

I can find knives with two or three of my wants, but not all.

SOG Blink comes pretty close to this; affordable, too. There are even a few with fancy handle inlays.

Manix with RC61 Vascowear
E4 with RC61-62 super blue carbon steel
Millie with CPM M4 HSS
" " " " CPM S90V
SOG Tomcat 3 with CPM Rex 121 HSS at RC 65 , or CPM S125V
Kershaw Blur with 20CV

AHHHHH.... A man after my own heart!:D:D

A BM Rukus in CPM M4 or S90V wouldn't be bad either!

I have modified a Queen Stockman to have convex edges and it is about my ideal. It is in Stag Bone.

Boring answer but the most versatile and pocketable knife I have or know of is the Delica 3, clipless.

Top grade steel, thin and light but strong and tough, great ergos and disappears in the pocket. Equally good for picking splinters, cutting up boxes or self defense.

Perfection is an elusive mistress, but I find the combination of edge, size, readiness, and weight of my Leek ZDP189/Ti to be very close.

When I saw this thread, I thought a Delica 3 blade but in the Delica 4 handle.

For production knives, I think the Benchmade 806D2 with plain edge, black coated blade would be perfect if the tip were just a little stronger. I love the axis lock and the handle had a built in guard that was perfect for hard thrusts.

I just don't understand why they discontinued it.

I might be wrong, but I thought the Twistmaster only came in some huge 5" blade size? That's not much of a "pocket" knife...

I had some of those Cold Steel Twistmasters and liked them fairly well. I think Opinel does a better job with that design, though, probably due to their many years of experience with it. I believe Twistmasters came in two sizes, about 4 inches and 5 inches closed, and, yes, the big one was too large for a normal pants pocket. I know they were available with both spear point and clip point carbon steel blades (Carbon V?). All things considered, they were another decent Cold Steel product for a very economical price. I wouldn't pay a premium price for one now, though, if they can still be found for sale somewhere.

Unfortunately the 2" limit is a corp. mandate. BUT I see that SOG makes a Twitch I with a 1.9" blade that meets ALL of the requirments.

THANKS Never.to.sharp, you are at least sharper than I.

Gotta have a pocket clip,be D/A,user,3 1/2 inch blade with either micarta or carbon fiber scales.

Something like a MT CMTX5 D/A Knife for under $300

I thought about that too but the next was going to be the skirmish in my fantasy. The full size one. Another one that cries out for CPM M4 HSS . Joe

That will be he NEXT knife I buy, whatever that is! And after that....knife-mania it's a way of life!

I haven't found the perfect knife, but the closest that I have found is the Spyderco Military. I really like everything about the Military...except the lock. If Spyderco updated the design with a new lock, I'd probably buy two.

I guess the closes thing to perfect for me is the Military Model (BG-42, CF) I also have the new D2 w/green foliage slabs. I like everything about this knife and for me is as close to perfect as one could get.

There actually did used to be a plastic-handled knife with an Opinel-like locking ring. I don't recall exactly, but it may have been a kershaw.
Cold Steel makes a ring lock folder called the Kudu that goes for a measly $7
