All,

Please excuse this rant, I am sure not the first..... It is amazing how so many folks can be dependable for product clarity for sale, Communication to sell, and Reasonable shipping and fair price.

Why is it so hard for some not to have 10 sec to deliver feedback for a positive transaction? Especially after recieving feedback from the Positive opposite party? Why are some so lazy other than the fact they do not give a crap!!! One of the reasons I am no longer a gold member as this sight as good as it is should develop a system that provides feedback for all transactions. After all, that is what builds our credibility here without it a user cannot sell. I personally am tired of the standard folks who provide good descriptions or items, and continue to sell on the backs of others positive feedback without leaving any of their own. Seems like trend that continues for the folks who are just to lazy to provide feedback for transactions that are not only good but conducted in the highest honor as the seller or buyer.........Shame on you lazy azzholes! TD

Yes, very annoying. Or, when you’re a buyer and the seller will not leave feedback for you unless positive feedback is left for them first.

Yes, it's annoying. I figure there is nothing I can do about the other person, but I can at least leave feedback on all of my transactions.

Admittedly the feedback system isn't super intuitive. Having to paste in the URL of the thread you're leaving feedback on if you're already in that thread is pretty cumbersome. I've had several counterparties ask me before how to leave feedback, and they either had to be walked through it step by step, or just gave up. Not everyone is computer savvy.

Suggestions to the site developers for improving the feedback mechanism:
  • If you click the "Add Feedback" link within a thread, default the URL to that thread
  • If you're the creator of the thread, have it default to "seller". Otherwise, have it default to "buyer". Of course, threads on the trading forums can default to "trader"
  • Make the text fields optional, especially if the feedback is positive. Honestly, I just use the same boilerplate for 98% of feedback I give. It's meaningless. I usually just look at a person's overall score, and will review individual comments for negative feedback only
If leaving feedback was as simple as 1) click "Add Feedback", 2) select a score, and 3) submit, it'd happen a lot more often.

^ Good point. Make the blurb optional though. I usually comment on how the shipping speed was or how well packed the item was. Wouldn’t hurt either way however.

It seems like the system does not notify you when you get new feedback now but it used to? Or is that just operator error on my part?

I used to be give feedback every time but my own feedback is up to nearly 50 now so I don't worry about it unless somebody asks for it or I notice they gave me feedback.

I haven't gotten feedback notifications since the upgrade either. I'm under the impression that the new system simply doesn't have that feature.

It is supposed to .... but just doesn't work. In Trading Prefs, there are options to receive E-mail, PM, or Alert Notification on posting of feedback. However, like I said, it never worked.

Very annoying, I’ve left probably at least 25% more than I’ve received.

I also do not like how we need to post in a thread now in order to be able to leave feedback.

I noticed that, too, it does make feedback more laborious. I went to leave feedback for a buyer, and because he claimed by PM, now I have to reopen the thread, ask him to post, and then re-lock the thread just to leave feedback.

If the feedback is public the transactions should be as well, allowing feedback to be left for hidden transactions is ripe for abuse; I’m all for the upgrade.

It's always been this way here (at least since I've been a member).
A lot of people simply won't bother, even if feedback has been left for them.

This. I no longer use the feedback system because I'm not willing to post as the buyer... and I dont want the posts in my ad as a seller. I know that doesn't make sense to some (even after I've explained my reasons); but it is a practice from before my time here, and I quickly found that I wanted to continue it here. I understand why it is how it is, and choose not to participate; so I've accepted that my feedback score will remain unchanged (I might care more about that if I hadn't already gotten one)

Annoying is the Buyer not even acknowledging receipt of the item.

I had one very recently where the buyer PM'd me the same day he received the knife to let me know he got it and that he was happy.

... but he's the only one.

It's really nice to do that because then you can fully close the sale- I hold sale money as allocated in my Paypal account until I hear from the buyer, so if the buyer ghosts me after delivery, and I don't know if he's happy, my money sits in Paypal longer.

I usually give it a couple of days after the tracking says Delivered. If I don't hear from the buyer by then I usually PM or email them to make sure they are satisfied.

I do the same thing with my Paypal funds. I don't feel right spending the funds until I know the deal is done.
