the problem with selling HI on a forum

There should be a place to sell HI items other than the production forum. When you post there you do get some views but every 5 mins someone is posting a Busee or something and the posts gets buried.

HI is a custom knife no two are ever the same, they are hand made and meet all of the qualifications of custom. Still there is no good location to sell HI itmes. Buck as its own section for sale and that’s as production as you can get.

I have several sales going and only one sold so it looks like soon I will have to go to eBay which I really don’t like. besides when you sell from a collection you hope you are selling to another collector that really understands the beauty of what they are buying which is why I prefer selling through forums.

sorry for the rant, just a little frustrated I think some others are as well
 
I thought about that but I don't represent HI and would feel like that was out of turn, unless maybe several people did that.

Folks have raised similar issues before and I doubt Spark has the time to do the research.

Your best bet is to start a public poll or something similar - where paying members vote to have a seperate forum for non-Busse knives. If you get enough pollees to agree with you, you can then request Spark to look into your petition.
 
im not sure about a seperate forum for HI products....
BUT, i do feel busse needs an exchange forum for itself :D :thumbup:
 
I am not knocking busse in fact i have one and its a great knife ( though a little high on the price)

Even if it were allowed for HI items to be sold in the cantina would be a bennifit. I realize the cantina is for non knife topics but I don't think it would lesson the bennifit of having the cantina forum. I know there are several other people that sell their HI items ( often to buy other HI) and I think there is a very valid point that HI are customs
 
ohhhh im not knocking busse either...
just the fact that so many are being pushed in the exchange screams to me they should have a dedicated for sale thread :)
 
I had a chat with one of the mods about traffic in the sales forum. The BF management is considering a Buse sales forum. I think it's a good idea.

though I think many people would be happy with being allowed to sell in the cantina, maybe thats a mod call?

Not use how this site works I have been a admin mod on a large forum for several years and there mods can make those choices.

I will comply with his directions...part of my "job" here.
 
how many dollars a week/month/year and/or blade units does it take to qualify for dealer status vs very enthusiastic hobbiest?

i'd love to see sub-forums for the major knife/brands

i'd love to see cleaner subjects in for sales too, "cleaning out my shoe box" doesn't say nothing ;) a single post with 15 random items is ... confusing to track. but that's another topic for another day.

The Buck guys campaigned for their own sub forum, and were required to get at least 40 gold or above members (I think) to say they wanted it.

So all you would have to do is start a thread in either this, or the main forum, with an appropriate title. After enough people sign off on the idea, Spark will make the new sale sub-forum. Might be a good idea to post in the Service and support section to get Spark's approval for the idea first.
 
That's the link I posted above...and I've added my comments to the thread. Whatever the boss says will happen.
 
I went a put my .02 Gold cents in there, seemed like the right place. Also seems best to keep it brief.

at the risk of being potentially really controversial... a khukri selling area, not so much branded, and ... khukris and khukri shaped objects, and related items. that opens up the appeal and broadens the range thus increasing the utility and potential. a better marketplace for people looking for such things.

I added my vote for an HI sale forum. I always thought we should have one anyway. Heck, we're more fanatical about HI products (or at least we are more active) than any other forum on BF.
 
As a headsup, the Buck sales subforum was created when over 40 Gold (or higher) members indicated that they would support such a forum. Checking the sticky on that subforum, I found that
as a group the buck collectors come up with close to 50 gold members to vote in favor for it and we had some thing like over 20 sign up from non paying to new gold and over 15 sign up as upgrade from basic to gold

Anyone who supports the idea of a HI sales subforum but hasn't yet become a Gold member, this is a good opportunity to make your opinion heard and support BF at the same time.:thumbup:
