the problem with selling HI on a forum

Was anyone going to even ask Yangdu her opinion before it's a done deal?

Good idea...do you want to do it or since I brought it up should I do it?

Though people will still sell them, I would think that if someone sells a couple they have money to buy other ones, if not then maybe they wern't going to anyway. I think this will help HI as I have stated before unless someone can point out to me why not.

i was never for a separate HI exchange section...
i feel it may interfere with yangdu and her business and it just doesnt sit right with me :o

nothing wrong with selling khuks at all as half of my collection consist of 2nd hand HI stuff but im not sure if a separate forum is appropriate......... iono i just have a bad feeling lol

sorry azis... :(

i do however feel that busse needs a seperate section due to the high volume of busse knives being pushed in the exchange... threads can be bumped all the way back to the 2nd or 3rd page in an hours time
i have nothing against busse at all... just my observation and opinion here

its also nice to know that HI can now be posted in the custom knives section as cougar pointed out

im not GOLD so thats just my 2cents... not sure if my opinion matters much :D

I think a seperate Busse Exchange would solve the problem. That way the high frequency of Hogs selling, buying, and trading to get at the knives they want and missed woln't bump back everyone else's exchange posts. The Hogs would be more than happy to have less extraneous stuff to overlook in their searching and other brands of knives would stay on page 1 a little longer. I think both sides would win. Just an idea.

Nasty has a very good point. Frankly, I feel genuinely embarassed:o that I've jumped into something with both feet:foot::foot: without having the common courtesy to ask the person most affected by the whole idea. If Yangdu has any reservations whatsoever, I'll certainly back off - way, way off, with sincere apologies for muddying the waters.

If she did then perhaps permission to sell in the cantina would work, because people are going to sell them no matter what and chances are they could start ending up on ebay and that will diminish the intangible value

I am not down with it

Azis me and you are kewl so dont take that the wrong way bro

I just dont dig it

yes i agree the hogs should speak for themselves...
BUT, they probably wont as busse sales are doing very well in the exchange :p
if it aint broke dont fix it is probably what they are going to say lol :D

i think posting HI in the custom section should solve the problem
ive always felt they were custom knives anyway :)

i was never for a separate HI exchange section...

me either.

i would be for a separate exotic blade section. khukris. parangs. bolos. all that. not just HI.

this stuff is already for sale, it's just harder to find it.

I had asked in the begining to go to the custom section but that appears to be just as much an issue, or maybe a sub board of the cantina would work...but for now I think the best would be its own section that would set it as a standard

There should be a place to sell HI items other than the production forum. When you post there you do get some views but every 5 mins someone is posting a Busee or something and the posts gets buried.

HI is a custom knife no two are ever the same, they are hand made and meet all of the qualifications of custom. Still there is no good location to sell HI itmes. Buck as its own section for sale and that’s as production as you can get.

I have several sales going and only one sold so it looks like soon I will have to go to eBay which I really don’t like. besides when you sell from a collection you hope you are selling to another collector that really understands the beauty of what they are buying which is why I prefer selling through forums.

sorry for the rant, just a little frustrated I think some others are as well

Until Hi gets its own forum try selling in the right one. Since by your definition and the one on the Hi site they are customs they should be sold here.

Rather than push for a HI sales forum, why not go the opposite route, and push for a Busse/Rat/Dog sales forum, and cut down on the traffic in the main forum?

Probably have a better chance of success going that route, don't you think?

I'm in agreement with this. A quick count of the first 75 sales in the exchange forum revealed that 36 featured Busse or Swamp Rat, while three had HI's. Setting up a Busse forum would cut traffic by approximately 50% and is justifiable by the numbers. I don't believe that the volume of HI's secondary market justifies a new forum.

Maybe a compromise could work.
1. create a busse sale forum – I think most have agreed
2. allow HI items to be sold either in the custom forum or as a sub-set of the cantina
3. if 2. is agreed then make a few announcements on where the HI items can be found

That could work and certainly improve the ways things are now.

I am going to double post this in the other thread

There is no main forum for individual selling. There is the production knife forum where busses are sold as they are production knives

Then there is the custom forum where HI should be sold as they are all indidually handcrafted blades.

I think Hi should have its own sub-fourum as it would help to highlight these magnificent blades and draw more people to them, thereby bringing more customers to HI. But until that happens saying Busse sales hinders HI sales in the individual forums is like comparing apples to oranges, they are sold on 2 seperate forums or at least should be by their very descriptions of how they are crafted. Instead of trying to force Blade-forums to make a Busse sale forum you should be posting your sales in the correct sale forum.

edited to add the following:
Azis I looked at your sale posts.
Is there a reason you are posting Buck listings in the production forum instead of the Buck sale/trade subforum? Dosn't this add to the clutter also by not posting in the correct sale forum. I can understand why the HI sales are there as there was confussion about where they belonged but the Buck subforum has been around and thriving for a while now.

I am confused now as I had asked that very question before posting and was informed they were to go into the production forum whicj illistrates one of the problems that we need to fix.

I am against any type of "Sub-sales Forums" I will never buy a Buck because I don't go there. I think the idea is bad.

I have found and bought many knives I never intended of buying because the sales area is so diversed. So what if you have to scroll to page 3.....how much time does it really take to look through a page of listings?

I am currently buying my first HI from Yangdu and she has been a tremendous help and very curtious. But I won't buy a second hand HI because thier warranty only cover original owner.

I know people say you can't break it....but I have broken a few "unbreakables" before...sometimes it is an imperfection that was overlooked and I would want that covered. Blade aside, what if the handle snaps...it would be great to not have to worry about that not being covered. I will continue to buy from Yangdu, but not anyone else.
