Many years ago I did a story on a carver of Giant Pumpkin carver he went by Farmer Mike. He was carving at the zoos Nut Tree in Vacaville, CA. Place everyone on I-80 east of San Francisco knew. Nut Tree is now closed, but apprentY Mike is still at his craft.

Google Images has more of Farmer Mike's work. He did most of his carving with knifes, and chisels.

Holy Smokes, that's impressive!

I think a lot of people wait to carve as not to have a moldy pump come the 31st.

Will be doing 2 to 3 pumpkins myself, should do it saturday, and will post them...along with other pics i am late with..ugh.

I did this one last year from a picture I took of John Kiedaisch of JK Knives - Kinda turned out like a "breaking bad" pumpkin, but the kids liked it.

Finally get to add one to the list! Just did this one last night. It's supposed to be Gypsy Danger from the movie Pacific Rim. Not the best but I had a great time. My wife and daughter each had their own pumpkins and we were just making a mess and laughing for a couple of hours.

Here's the inspiration:

It was one of those small pumpkins so I tried to fit as much as I could:

And here's the only shot I got of the guilty party:

I hope this thread gets a lot more traffic the next couple of days! Nice pics, everyone.

A few pics taken during our annual pumpkin slaughter. This year's knife of honor was my GEC 66 calf roper slim.

Just got done carving with my 13 year old daughter. She wanted the characters from nightmare before christmas. Here they are, didn't get any pics of the knife I used for some of it but it was a mini grip 555hg.

Very nice work, looks great.

My kids just carved their pumpkins last night, and there was a spare one so I did this quickie job with the knife I was carrying yesterday:

The white sections are hollowed out inside, so the candle light glows through them, incidentally.

Here were the tools, and YES that is a Van Vector Pumpkin Carving Knife... Chews through pumpkin like a beaver through balsa wood. Don't bother sending me a PM, I won't sell it. One of my best knife buys ever. :D
