The pumpkin carving thread

^^^Nice!

Great jack-o-lanterns fellas! Looks like it will probably be tomorrow for me. Had to run a few errands and ran out of time. But, I'll get er done tomorrow.

Just got done carving with my 13 year old daughter. She wanted the characters from nightmare before christmas. Here they are, didn't get any pics of the knife I used for some of it but it was a mini grip 555hg.

Those are phenomenal! Just had to be said.

I'm starting on mine..... Gonna be a rush job though.

Mine are nowhere near some of the quality here, but I had fun and love the end result.
The wife isn't into pumpkin violence so she painted a couple.

These are the tools I thought I'd need. The RS was so thick it cracked the pumpkin on the first cut.. So the Saddle Mountain Skinner did most of the heavy work on the larger one. My classic Mora #2/0 and BM 940 did the smaller one and my Case executive handled the detail work.

Hahaha I love it, Lance!

I see you're up in Abilene. Man, I had some good times with my old band up there.

tried out a few knives. The opinel was the best for cutting and my case stockman was good for detail work. My EDC BM 940 was just too thick

Thanks Grownstar! It's a nice town, just enough younger folks to keep it somewhat exciting.
What was the name of your band if you don't mind me asking?

Sorry guys, I'll have to post the knife pic tommorrow. Victorinox Pioneer cut the tops off. The rest was little carving tools and Chicago cutlery kitchen knife.

Bonus pics of pumpkin foolery!

After seeing the residue left on my stainless BM, I knew it would leave a nice patina on some carbon steel.
So after carving the smaller pumpkin I took the guts and did this.

And after about six hours I had this.

Had lots of fun and can't wait till next year when I can refine my skills.

Looks like before some drinks! The MM and the shine aren't even cracked
