The Puukko

I have both; carpenter UHC and regular blade. Personally, I like the regular Roselli - easier to sharpen/hone IMHO.

Nice! Was that one of the knives from "the box" you teased us with?

Ps, I'm jealous of your carbon v srk.
I think it was in there in that pic. (And yes, the SRK is a great knife, for sure. As I love well treated 1095, I'm sad that I sold my stag handled Carbon V Trailmaster all those years ago. The SRK is my way of getting back to it.)

I got the Roselli vaarinpuukko in the early days of KnifeCenter, around '95. It has the peened tang visible at the pommel. I've carried it on a few adventures. It pairs well with a small axe.

Very nice. Please make sure to share your leatherwork when you're done.

It was you who gave me the idea to start putting the smooth side of the dangler forward... and I'm still not a fan of the sheath I made you for that gaw ;)

The leuku sheath is absolutely massive. That's a perfectly regular sized puukko to the left.

How else am I supposed to reenact the scene from Sisu with a watermelon without a colossal leuku? 😆

These sheaths look absolutely perfect and I cannot wait to see them in person! Someone might just have to open this thread to the leuku and stuorraniibi.

I will be watching Sisu this weekend, it's finally available on my streaming app ;)

The handle on that leuku is unique, interesting to get an idea of Roselli's logic. It's perfect for wrist flicking chops with a loose pinch grip, which from what I understand is exactly how the Sami used it. It's one of the few production leuku's I've seen properly profiled. I've tested just about every other production leuku out there except for Kauhavan's biggest chopper and Ahti (but their lauri leuku blades look really narrow in comparison). What I'm looking for is one that doesn't have such narrow tops and bottoms on the handle.
