In addition to well-known set glomerulus Kainuu knife factors have been Kemppainen. Family has been making knives since 1610 onwards. in the mid-1900's style knife genus factor was Hyrynsalmi Antti Kemppainen, which generally has been considered a real Kainuu Tommien mestaritakojana. Kekkonen also appreciated his knife master their skills.
When Kemppainen received in 1971 the Oulu province Art Award for decades of Tommi-knives manufacture, 10.20.1971, President Kekkonen congratulated him by letter. Antti Kemppainen knives have been among the eminent knife enthusiasts. His legacy has continued to his sons and Alpo Olavi. Olavi Kemppainen Takoma TAKO-Tommi and Alpo POKARA-Tommi have also won the nationwide knife at the fair.
I'll add something to what already said in the quotes provided by Thomas, Antti Kemppainen bought the firm, now known as Kainuun Puukko, by Setti Keranen, son of Kari Keranen, the smith considered the "inventor" of the Tommi.I hate to revive such an old thread but am researching a puukko I have. It was made by Olavi Kemppainen and is a T7 of Pokara line. Any info? Trying to post pics but phone is not letting me.
