The redundancy of a deep carry pocket clip

I

Im so glad my job...at an airport no less allows us to carry a knife.
I hear you, my boss is a complete jerk, but I can carry whatever I want. The benefits of being self-employed. ;)

But, as an employer, I find it hard to blame places that ban anything more dangerous than a pencil eraser in the workplace. I can pretty much promise they're not trying to make a political statement or stomp on anyone's rights, just trying to bring down their insurance premiums and avoid some lawsuits.

Years ago I worked for a prison supply company. Management officially said no to personal knives but lower management pretty much looked away if we carried something. Then some noob accidentally shipped a cheap box cutter to a state prison here in California. Man, you should have seen the fireworks over that!!!! California's Department of Corrections just exploded.

It was kinda fun to watch it all unfold. Nobody carried anything on their person. Numbered utility knives were checked out on an "as needed" basis. Productivity dropped because everyone was running back and forth to get knives. Then knives were tethered to work stations and that wasn't much better. I think the guys in receiving ended up with blades and pickers/packers were just out of luck. Don't really remember any more. A long time ago.

Wallet and knife can comfortably coexist in one pocket and deep carry just speaks for itself.
Where can I get that deep carry clip? I've held off a Military purchase as I was unable to find a deep carry for tip-up.

Not a fan of them myself, especially on knives designed to be "tactical" or "fast". I never understood why you would want a folder that is easy and quick to open and then bury it in your pocket where its a pain in the rear to retrieve. Seems a bit counter productive to me.

I like them at work because i don't have part of a knife sticking up. At home or elsewhere I really don't care. Knives are allowed here, but in nice pants honestly it looks bad. A clip only looks like i have a pen in my pocket.

I'm using a clip from manly folders and a Chicago screw. I filed down a bit of thread on the screw and it alows for clip to go on without any modification. The clip comes with one side open so you can slide screw in from the side. These clips come in two sizes. On wasp its a bit smaller.

I went further and did some cutting and changed one side to a different screw that looks smaller on presentation side and is more recessed. The whole thing tightens itself with a clip. I posted video on my profile page. Later I dremeled the clip a bit deeper so it sits deeper on the millie, doesn't stick out on the butt. Pic below is older.

I don't mind a deep carry clip on some knives but on others I prefer a standard clip. For me it usually comes down more to clip placement than anything else. This may have been said already - I stopped reading the comments after page 1.

Out of sight, out of mind.

I like lanyard holes on my knives because they allow me to carry the knife vertically in my pocket. I run the lanyard to a clip on a key strap on my belt. People think it's my keys.
Most of my folders come with lanyard holes, but I added one to the Spydie Chaparral below.
I am generally not a fan of most pocket clips. To me they can interfere with a knife's smoothness and clean feel in the hand.

Usually anything that goes in my pocket sits pretty good there. If a knife is designed well with a pocket clip, i have to keep it on.
I have a blacked out pm2. Black backspacer hides silver lanyard tube, blacked out standard clip. With black clothes it doesn't advertise itself. I'll wear sebenza with some blue jeans or grey pants. But my deep carry stuff works better as to letting my hand slide inside and use the pocket also. The butt of the knife is usually rounded too on what i have. It's not hard to pull out. Like I don't understand why that Bugout in previous post has a standard clip.

Your pictures don't show. I meant a post by @Dean51. But I miss understood it. Disregard it.
Anyways, clips are fun to exper....

Ok, gotcha. Yeah clips are fun to experiment with. I feel the same with lanyards.
Being discreet with one's carry is being a good knife nut

My primary EDC is a Protech TR5 which has one. It slides in and out of my pocket with ease. Where I do wish I had a shorter clip was my CS Swift. I only put the knife "half way" clipped to my pocket for easy deployment.

Killing two birds with one stone; eliminating the lanyard hole && implementing tip up carry.

I'll have to get myself a Rex45 Millie now. Ty!!

I prefer deep carry clips, they have lesser tension and don't schred pockets as much.
Compare the benchmade regular vs deep carry clip ;)
In fact, i rock a BM deep carry clip on my PM2 :p

I put a DC clip on the Manix XL 'cos the clip mounting wasn't close enough to the end of the handle for my liking. It rides a bit lower, the weight a little deeper in pocket, and for me it carries better.
Also, it's good for gripping with the fingers to make one handed closing easy, with that big 'ol handle.

Neither reason applies to the standard Manix, for me. Like it how it is.
Tried a DC clip on a Para2 once, found it wasn't for me at all. A bit too obtrusive in hand.

Aside from making the knife itself less visible, you could still see the clip, so what benifit is there to gain from this, aside from personal preference?
It keeps the knife from snagging on stuff such as step ladders .
