Some of these custom dye jobs turn out super nice but I'd be so worried about corrosion in hard to reach places. I wonder if some hard setting wax or...putty or something could be used on the blade and around the pivots and such. I've seen folks use tape but I can't imagine it holds well.
Edit: There are microcrystalline waxes that melt at like 180F-200F, looks like Rit suggests 140-160F for dying natural materials
